Summary

All her life, Annie Prideaux has suffered through her brother's constant practical jokes. But Jake's last joke is one too many, she decides when he sets her up on a blind date with his friend Drew - neglecting to tell his straight sister one tiny detail: Her date is not a man but a lesbian.

Annie and Drew decide it's time to turn the tables on Jake by pretending to fall in love with each other.

At first glance, they have nothing in common. Disillusioned with love, Annie focuses on books, her cat, and her work as an accountant while Drew, more confident and outgoing, owns a dog and spends most of her time working in her beloved vineyard.

Only their common goal to take revenge on Jake unites them. But what starts as a table-turning game soon turns Annie's and Drew's lives upside down as the lines between pretending and reality begin to blur.

Something in the Wine is a story about love, friendship, and coming to terms with what it means to be yourself.

lovely story but ending was abrupt

really liked the book, but didn't like the ending. it felt unfinished. no love scenes so you weren't there along with the characters when they took that step. I was actually shocked when it ended, thinking that I didn't have the whole book, but alas I did. unsatisfied abrupt end.

stuck with it & turned out ok.

a nice book of someone slowly falling in love & the pressure that bring, especially if they aren't knowingly gay. I did initially have as problem with the narrator at the beginning of the book, as she read it very robotic. however t he at did improve as it went on, so stick with it.

Narrator did a good job with this story.

I loved this audiobook and will definitely listen to it again. As I've come to expect from Jae (the author), this book is a well written story that pulls you in from start to finish. I have found Jae to be a solid author who doesn't disappoint. When I start her books I have come to know and trust that I will enjoy them.

The main characters (Annie & Drew) in this book are very likeable and easy to relate to. I enjoyed the story very much, and actually really liked that it was a slow burn romance for these two.

The narrator did a good job of capturing these characters and the story.

what next

Great story, but what next, ending, leaving more questions than answers.
Will there be a follow-up book

Good but not thrilling

I had listened to another one of Jae's books (Just for show) which I had really enjoyed but this one lacked the depth that the other one had. I liked Drew but failed to relate to/understand/appreciate Annie.
Worth mentioning that there is no sex in this one, if that's what you're hoping for hahaha

a wonderful romance as a workaholic struggles with new emotions, what starts as a prank revenge on an unfeeling brother, brings a vintner with a loving heart into her life.
