Years ago, Old Earth sent forth sisters and brothers into the vast dark of the prodigal colonies armed only with crucifixes and iron faith. Now, the sisters of the Order of Saint Rita are on an interstellar mission of mercy aboard Our Lady of Impossible Constellations, a living, breathing ship which seems determined to develop a will of its own.
When the order receives a distress call from a newly-formed colony, the sisters discover that the bodies and souls in their care - and that of the galactic diaspora - are in danger. And not from void beyond, but from the nascent Central Governance and the Church itself.

very enjoyable story about space nuns losing faith
very clever critique of Catholicism in a colonial/civilising mission sci-fi setting, featuring fascinating xenobiological explorations of living starships, philosophical pondering over metaphysical questions of sentience and free will, queer nuns, and a great third act to remind the reader that whatever opinion they may have of organised religion and its many, many failings, scandals and atrocities, behind the trappings and oft silly rituals sits a kernel of good intentions, the goal of which is (usually) to heal the hearts of those in pain.

Decent, if Unoriginal Scifi
I don't have a huge amount to say about this other than it is written and performed to a good standard, especially for genre fiction included in the Audible library. It's a bit of a hodge podge of various scifi concepts from other properties combined with some skill, but little originality or deep interest. I'm intrigued about the universe, but probably not enough to pick up the second book unless it is added to the catalogue or I can get it from the library.
If you were being reductive you could say, what if Shepherd Book and the rest of the crew from Firefly were all Catholic nuns on a ship from Farscape essentially doing the storyline from Serenity.
