Summary
A bodyguard, she's-off-limits, he falls first, secret relationship romance!
The gorgeous, brilliant woman I have dirty dreams about every damned night?
She's supposed to marry my best friend.
She's supposed to be queen someday.
She's off-limits.
But I can't walk away.
I'm supposed to protect her.
Maybe even be her friend.
I should not be lusting after her.
And I absolutely cannot fall in love with her.
But I can’t forget that one spontaneous, stolen kiss. I can’t stop taking care of her. I can’t stop wanting her secrets. I can’t get over her smiles, her laughter, her happiness. I can’t get over her.
So, while my head knows she can’t be mine, my heart doesn't care.
And if it comes down to choosing between her or... everything...I won’t have to think twice.
Reluctantly Rogue is Jonah and Linnea's story. It is book two in the steamy modern royal romance series Royals Gone Rogue. It is definitely best enjoyed after book one.

4.5 Stars!
I’m a simple girl, you tell me this is a forbidden bodyguard romance, and I am there! 🍾
I’ve really become obsessed with Erin Nicholas/Erin Nicolle’s books and this one was no exception! Ever since I first read the first book in this series, I have been excited to get to know and get into Jonah and Linnea’s love story.
So, here’s the low down on this book. Reluctantly Rogue is book 2 in the Royals Gone Rogue series. This is a forbidden, bodyguard romance with elements of royalty. In this book, we meet our MCs, Jonah and Linnea. Jonah is the official bodyguard of Torin O’Grady, the crown Prince of the fictional island of Cara and next in line to become King. Linnea is engaged to Torin and will become Queen when Torin is crowned King. They initially meet under these circumstances, and Torin becomes Linnea’s unofficial bodyguard. They instantly find themselves attracted to each other and are now in each other’s lives, due to the aforementioned engagement. This engagement also makes their attraction to each other forbidden, and they cannot do anything about this mutual attraction. Instead, they slowly become friends and this turns into more. They try so hard to fight against their feelings for each other but cannot seem to get each other out of their heads. So much is at stake, as Jonah is at risk of being banned from Cara if he pursues this relationship and Linnea also fights against her feelings as she needs to become Queen in order to implement her plans for Cara.
This book was soo good. Just like the first one in the series, I was hooked from page 1. They were such opposites, yet worked well together. I could definitely feel the tension and attraction. 🥵 Overall, it was charming, fun, witty and steamy with some angst thrown in. Although this is a standalone, parts of this book run parallel to book 1 so I highly suggest you read that book first.
If you’re looking for an angsty, forbidden, bodyguard romance, consider picking this one up, you won’t be disappointed.
Narrated by the brilliant Jason Clarke, and new to me (I think) narrator, Melissa Moran. Both did so well in this. Clarke portrayed the broody, stoic, and protective aura that Jonah exuded. Meanwhile, Moran excelled at showing the confident, strong, yet soft personality that Linnea had. This story was entertaining, but their narration added to that entertainment, and they brought the characters and their story to life.

Excellent narration
Jason Clarke and Melissa Moran did an excellent job with the narration. I'm sure that I enjoyed the story more because of how the audio performances enhanced the story.
Reluctantly Rogue could be read as a stand alone, though I do recommend reading both books. The majority of Reluctantly Rogue takes place before Reluctantly Royal, so it's really not much of a spoiler starting with one vs. the other. I liked that the characters, but especially Linnea, discovered more about themselves over the course of the book.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

I love Royal Romance!
This is the second book in the Royals Gone Rogue Series, a steamy modern royal romance. This is a series of interconnected standalone romances. I love this series! Jonah and Linnea's story is beautifully written, fun, and heartwarming. Jonah is very handsome, protective, and supportive. Linnea is beautiful, smart, and strong. I liked the banter, the slow burn, and the sizzling chemistry. I loved to see again the characters from the first book in the series. Jason Clarke and Melissa Moran did an excellent job bringing these characters, and this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Rags to Royals, the next book in the series.

Sweet and fun
This was a sweet story about falling in love with your best friend, who’s supposed to marry your other best friend.
This was full of surprises, romance, friendship, chaos, charm, spice, and falling in love with your best friend.
I loved the chemistry and the friendship. The reluctance to take things further, but the willingness to teach, and all the fun dates and shenanigans.
This was sweet and spicy with fantastic narration.

Linnea and Jonah!
Since she was a child Linnea has known that she was destined to marry the prince and become queen of Cara and that has been the primary focus of her life. With the eldest prince no longer an option, she now finds herself engaged to Torbin, the middle prince. She is determined to go through with their wedding even if Torbin doesn’t want to proceed and if she is in love with Jonah, his bodyguard.
Jonah is not only Torbin’s security detail but his best friend as well. He has been trying to deny his feelings for Linnea but that is only becoming more difficult with each passing day. All he wants is Linnea’s happiness so when she chooses him, he is determined to find a way for them to be together no matter the consequences.
Linnea has always done what was expected of her with no regard to what she wants, and Jonah is the only person to show her she has choices as they fight for their happy ever after. Through the performance of the narrators, you experience the swoony side of Jonah as well as strength of Linnea as she spreads her wings.

Fabulous listen!
Now this is fun listen! Talk about going rogue! This is the second book in Erin Nic0lle's Royals Gone Rogue series and I could not get enough! Featuring Prince Torin's bodyguard and best friend, Jonah. He is a loyal man, and been with the prince for years. All the time, he has been watching all the royal family, including Torin's fiance, Linnea. It's an arranged marriage that neither wants, but there are hurdles to get out of it. The two talk, and though Linnea would love to be the Queen of Cara to help the country and it's people, Linnea agrees to date other men. Torin sets her up on several dates in the states, and Jonah goes with her. He knows her so well, and over the years, his feelings have grown. But he can't touch what is Torin's. Linnea has other plans though, and while the her dates are interesting, they don't give the same feelings as Jonah. How does it all end? Will Torin and Linnea get married? What of the family arrangement? And where will it leave Jonah? I love, love, love this story! It's fast paced, passionate and full of fun and flirty banter. Linnea is a fantastic character, full of adventure. She knows what she wants and goes right after it. Jonah, oh my. The patience he has, the love he shows, and the loyalty and protection he gives are amazing. And all around fabulous listen.
Bringing it all to life is Jason Clarke and Melissa Moran. These two talents create the most amazing characters, adding in humor, emotion, flirty fun and sensuality. I could not stop listening and loved every minute.

Reluctantly Rogue
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️
Reluctantly Rogue is book two in the Royals Gone Rogue series. This book is a forbidden bodyguard romance. Jonah is Torin, the future King of Cara’s bodyguard. In book one we got Torin’s story. This book jumps back to the past and over laps with book one. This book has best friend’s fiancé, he falls first, and secret relationship tropes. I love Jonah’s possessive alpha tendencies. Linnea has been training to become the next Queen of Cara since she was four years old. The future Queen can’t fall in love with her betrothed’s bodyguard.
Jason Clarke and Melissa Moran did a fantastic job narrating this book in duet style narration.
