About this listen
Breaking News: Rugby’s bad boy marries his best friend’s little sister.
If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no. Why? One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era.
Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.
The cocktail in my hand—similar to the one that got me into this situation—is the prettiest shade of pink. It’s almost the same color as the giant rock on my left hand. And instead of discussing an annulment, I’m considering a 90-day marriage of convenience to the man I accidentally married in Las Vegas.
Renn didn’t propose marriage. But he does deliver a proposal I might be unable to turn down.
USA Today and Amazon charts best-selling author Adriana Locke delivers a "spicy & sweet" forbidden sports romance with a marriage of convenience that will make you swoon!

Omg!!! This book! I loved it soo much! Ren and Blakely both have my hearts! Loved Ren, loved Blakey! Their chemistry was just off the charts!!! This book also made me actually laugh out loud. I also loved their back and forth banter. Overall, such an enjoyable read!
Narrated by Avery Caris and John Lane, the narration was excellent! They were able to capture the tension and chemistry that Blakely and Ren had, as well as the banter-rous flirtation-ship. Their voices had me hooked from page 1 and throughout! They truly brought the story and characters to life!

This is the first book of Adriana's that I have read, and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see how everything was going to play out. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Renn and Blakely. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
John and Avery did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like forbidden romances, sports romances, marriage of convenience romances, or contemporary romances.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 5 Stars
This was my first listen by Avery Caris, and that’s all I need to put her in the plus column of narrators. She brought Blakely to life really well and her voice has an ease to it that I know will be versatile. I can’t wait to listen to her more in the future. I’m not new to John Lane and I’ve always liked his narrations and his rendition of Renn just solidified my enjoyment of him.
STORY REVIEW & RATING: 5+ Stars
I haven’t been very consistent in my reading of Adriana Locke’s words, but you know what has been consistent? Every time I pick up a story written by this woman, the feelgood and swoon factor never misses a beat! Her ability to create not just realistic and relatable characters that you want to hug the life out of but also surrounds them with supportive family and secondary characters that are uplifting and you can’t wait to devour their journey, is a thing of beauty, and she does this every.single.time! I know there are a ton of books that I haven’t devoured yet, but I am confident that once I do, they are all going to wrap themselves around my heart and hang on tight! I just know it!
There is really no circumstance in this journey that I didn’t enjoy/like/love. The premise of the story is not unique but yet Adriana sucked me in from the very beginning and I never really wanted to stop listening. If I’d have started this audiobook in the morning as opposed to when I did, I would have spent the whole day with Renn & Blakely in my head! There is zero doubt about that! Their story was easy but not soft. Their relationship flowed easily from friends to more because Adrina gave them the time in the storyline to be away from the frenzy and ripple effect their ”marriage” was sure to cause, to just be and enjoy themselves in their spontaneity. I really liked this plot-point because I can’t even think of the last story I read with this trope that utilized this plot device. It was genius for them, and it made me, the reader/listener, able to invest and root for them as a couple that much more.
The story isn’t all rainbows and gumdrops, but again, I expected that. Oopsie Vegas marriages, no matter who you are, always come with circumstances that are not sunshiny LOL So again, relatability and realism was strong through this journey, and I appreciated the heck out of that! Speaking of none rainbows …
**SPOILER ALERT**
Renn’s father offering money is not an uncommon conflict in situations such as this, but Adriana doubled down on this plot-point and gave it just enough edge that I audibly gasped at the audacity of it all. She leveled it up in a way that was so perfect I may have screamed “YES GIRL!! And mom …
“I want you out of my house in twenty minutes. Take your car and clothes. The rest is mine.”
“Rory—”
“You will not disrespect my children. You will not talk to another woman like you spoke to Blakely, and you will not threaten anyone and expect me to sit back quietly. Did you forget who I am, Reid?”
He trembles with anger. She smirks. “You came into this marriage with nothing. You’ll leave with nothing
I mean it just does not get better than this entire scene! **END SPOILER**
Well done!!
This story was sexy and fun. It was entertaining and captivating and left me wanting more from not just all the Brewers, but also Renn & Blakely. It’s always a good sign when you feel like you could read about a couple forever. Adriana blended all the characteristics I love about a romance fiction journey perfectly. The story wasn’t too much of this or the other … *happy sigh* it was perfect!

Back to this story... Blakely and Renn have known each other for years, and they have an amazing relationship, since he's her brother's best friend and teammate.
From chapter one we can see that their lust is mutual and that the s3xuaI tension is up to high levels, even in front of their friends. It's like that couple that everyone knows it's just a matter of time until they bang their brains out! 😂😂
The book is a bit on the short side, and for that I was missing something, cause I feel like we could have had a lot more of development into their back stories, like... Renn was a professional rugby player, but we haven't seen any kind of playing or even training, and that would be great to see, cause I like the sport.
I loved their wild night in Vegas, followed by their st3amy s3xcapade to Australia, and I wish they had remembered bits and pieces of their shenanigans at the end, cause that would have been entertaining to listen.
Renn was 100% husband material though, and the way he cared, protected and desired Blakely was chef's kiss!
ALSOOOOO if you read/listened to the Carmichael's (which I love by the way), you'll be really happy to FINALLY find out what Foxx does for a living, cause yep... He's part of this book too and I was giggling when he first showed up!
The end was sweet and special, and I really hope to see more of these characters.

Listened to the audiobook:
Both narrators were so good for the characters, and both did a great job with both the male and female characters.
But, I had to speed the narration up a lot to be able to listen at a reasonable speed. Also, the female narrator’s speaking speed was slower than the male narrator’s speaking speed, so I kept having to change the speed to listen to the different chapters.
Loved!

Blakely is done with bad boys. For her thirtieth birthday, she wants to turn her life around. But… Renn. He’s known for scandals–not always his fault–and he’s her brother’s teammate and friend. And he’s wanted her for a long time. But… he wants no relationship. So of course they end up married, and in a no-strings-attached fling until they can divorce peacefully. At least, that’s the plan.
The thing is, Renn is way more than people think of him. Than even he thinks of himself. Maybe public opinion of him–and especially his father’s–have been prescriptive in a way. But through his relationship with Blakely, he’s showing another side of himself. I loved his character arc.
But what I enjoyed the most was the flirting and the banter between them. The author knows how to create great chemistry between people who just have fun together. Of course, their conversations were full of inuendos, that helps. But they also had meaningful exchanges. They open up to each other. And they had a lot of hot moments. I think it was probably the hottest I’ve read from this author. Renn and Blakely couldn’t keep their hands off each other.
So there was generally a lot of humor in this book, between the banter, and the side characters–who have fun dynamics with the main characters. And some situations were hilarious. To balance that, there are a few very emotional moments, and even some quite disturbing ones. This book gives feels, all of them.
And the narration is on point. The female narrator was new to me, and I was impressed with her performance. The male narrator is great at what he does, and he’s nailed Renn’s energy, but I think he sounded a bit too old. This is a very good audiobook, and a great way to experience Renn and Blakely’s love story.
Good audiobook, great way to enjoy Renn&Blakely
