About this listen

Years after the appearance in the solar system of the immense, deserted spaceship, Rama, a second craft arrived, destined to become home for a group of human colonists. But now the colony has become a brutal dictatorship, terrorizing its own inhabitants. Nicole Wakefield, condemned to death for treason, has escaped to New York. There she is reunited with her husband, but pursuit is not far behind and they are forced to flee to the subterranean corridors of New York inhabited by the menacing octospiders. So begins the greatest adventure of the Rama cycle, a story of massive scope and extraordinary revelations.

Arthur C. Clarke was born in Minehead in 1917. During the Second World War he served as an RAF radar instructor, rising to the rank of Flight-Lieutenant. After the war he won a BSc in physics and mathematics with first class honours from King's College, London. One of the most respected of all science-fiction writers, he also won Kalinga Prize, The Aviation Space-Writers Prize and The Westinghouse Science Writing Prize. He shared an OSCAR nomination with Stanley Kubrick for the screenplay of 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was based on his story, 'The Sentinel'. He lived in Sri Lanka from 1956 until his death in 2008.

Wonderful story, superb narator, it has been a long journey through all 4 books and although I thought it lost its way a little towards the end of the 3rd book (the Garden of Rama) this final chapter made it all worth while and with such an unforgettable ending.

Wonderful!

Clark's work is so well developed and thought through that unlike other sci fi writer's I've read I rarely find myself doubting his characters or plots.
His work is so well researched that even the complexities of how the universe began have good scientific evidence supporting his writing, I can only surmise he must have been an extremely interesting person to discuss thing's with as his work is so inventfull but grounded in what the essence of people are.

Still one of the finest SF writer's

Much better than The Gardens of Rama.
Shares common themes with other pieces by Arthur C Clarke.
The node being a substitute for the monolith, Rama is a stand in for discovery.
one does have yo ask why such. Motley crew was sent to represent humanity though.

A finale fitting the first.

Repeated spots where a paragraph is repeated once or sometimes twice which (for me) really drags you back out of the story

Love the story but rough audio edits

I have read and re-read this series for years, and I further loved and enjoyed the Audible version

The Rama Series

A wonderful book in many ways, Rama Revealed lacks a certain narrative drive towards the end but is no less thought provoking for it. In SF terms still a real great. The writing partnership has brought a deeper level of characterisation than other Arthur C Clarke novels I have read or listened to which is very welcome and has brought a new personal perspective to this great mans prescient and ambitious stories.

Thought provoking, If not always captivating.
