About this listen

The Emperor is enraged. Primarch Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons Legion has made a terrible mistake that endangers the very safety of Terra. With no other choice, the Emperor charges Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves, with the apprehension of his brother from the Thousand Sons home world of Prospero.

This planet of sorcerers will not be easy to overcome, but Russ and his Space Wolves are not easily deterred. With wrath in his heart, Russ is determined to bring Magnus to justice and bring about the fall of Prospero.

I feel that this was over hyped - while the fluff content was great, there wasn't enough detail during the route of prospero to dictate such a lofty reputation.

over hyped?

a brilliant and entrancing story. it is interesting to see the difference in the wolves between the 30th and 41st millennia. I'd love to read a follow on to this where Hauser is resuscitated in the 41st millenium, and possibly meets Guilliman :D

another epic saga!

Dan Abnett takes a story that is well known in Warhammer lore and puts a fresh spin on events. Delving into the culture of the Space Wolves (which could so easily and lazily can be caricatured as 'space Vikings') this drama reveals new depths and aspects of the VI legion that will surprise even long time fans.

Highly recommended. Best heard in conjunction with the book A Thousand Sons which tells the other side of the tale.

The reading and production of the audio drama is also great.

easily one of the best Horus heresy books

When I realised the next book was Space Wolves I thought "here we go, hack, slash and burn". I was surprised; it is steeped in lore, the characters are entertaining and the plots are as deep as a glacial lake. Amazing!

Unexpected delight

While most of the Horus Heresy books are good, and others are great, there are a few absolute standouts. Prospero Burns is incredible. Absolute masterwork. Must buy.

Absolute masterwork.

Can be a slow burn at times... Is a really good account of the lives of the Space Wolves, really fleshes the legion out.

Ends very well but does take a while to get going.

Very good account of the Space Wolves

with barely a mention of what happened in the actual Council of Nikea and a Tiny part of the story being about the burning of Prospero I can't help but be disappointed, the story is quite good but nothing like what you would expect or want from a book called Prospero burns

disappointing but not bad

One of the best books in Horus heresy series. I highly recommend it. One of the few records of the wolves of Fenris…so enjoy.
