About this listen
Imagine my surprise when my new neighbor turns out to be one of Scotland’s most famous (and hottest) professional footballers, Callan Keen. I’m even more shocked to discover that the brooding player is still holding a grudge for something that happened (or didn’t happen) between us years ago.
Too busy trying to take my social media management company to the next level, I don’t have time for this gorgeous blast from the past. Or at least I shouldn’t. Yet whenever I see him, I can’t help but engage in a battle of wits with the grump upstairs.
When a huge client opportunity arises, circumstances force me to enlist Callan’s help. I require a fake date and Callan needs me to facilitate a meeting with my dad to further his own business interests.
The deal between us should be simple. Except, of course, the blazing chemistry we’ve shared since the moment we met. We can’t deny it, we can’t control it, and soon we’re agreeing to six weeks of no-strings-attached, mind-blowing, steamy shenanigans.
I told myself I was too smart to catch feelings. But when Callan finally finds out the truth about our past, he becomes the guy I used to know. And that man is way too easy to fall for.
The problem is that Callan has vowed to never let another person close enough to break his heart again.
It just might prove impossible to show my stubborn Scotsman I’m worth the risk, especially when old wounds are re-opened and threaten to wreck any chance of a future together…

A perfect return to where it all began
Whether it’s the highlands of Scotland or the Georgian streets of Edinburgh this author’s love for her home country shines through. With every word you can tell she’s walked the cobbled streets in her characters footsteps even if she has taken a little geographical license with Loverose Lane. This book has been one of my most anticipated reads but at the same time I felt a slight trepidation. Would the next generation do justice to the originals? On Dublin Street was my introduction to Samantha Young’s books and I fell in love with Braden and Joss twelve years ago so would their daughter Beth’s romance live up to that of her parents? I don’t know why I worried. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more especially over the banter between Callan and his friends Baird and John and Lily’s podcast which I wish was real. I swooned over the broody Callan….and of course Braden, who has matured like the finest malt whisky. Beth was the perfect blend of both her parents with her father’s drive and her mum’s insecurities and their courage to fight what she wanted while Callan, well he made my heart hurt. He’d lost so much he’d closed himself off from love and further pain, the only constants in his life his teammates who he considered his family but he’d never forgotten Beth, the girl who’d given him hope for a while at least. With fabulous writing that draws you in from the opening chapter, humour that makes you smile as you read and a love that is everything Beth could desire, On Loverose Lane was everything I could’ve hoped for and more. The girl who once made me laugh about peas has grown up.
Dual narration for this audiobook was provided by Shane East and Zara Hampton-Brown. They did a fabulous job bringing Beth and Callan to life and, as with the ebook I laughed and I cried at parts of their performances. I’ve listened to both narrators before and Shane as usual was totally believable as his character but for me, Zara’s voice as Beth was perhaps just a little too unsophisticated for the privately educated businesswoman sounding more like a girl brought up in the country rather than the capital.
