Fantastic story, beautifully written

He did not disappoint with his narration and I felt Barrington was chatting to me personally of his life.
The story was beautifully, empathetically and also comically written. It was delivered at times completely laugh out loud and others in a very intimate way.
I will never be able to listen to Shabba Ranks Mr Loverman in quite the same way.
I would thoroughly recommend this book, and will be looking for Barrington our there, as I feel I have lost my Caribbean uncle.

This is such an emotional rollercoaster of a book but not in a depressing way. I loved the characters and they were so real and well-rounded that you felt like you could pick them out in the street if you walked past them.
It is effectively a ‘coming out’ story but it is so much more, looking at family dynamics and how the complex decisions we make impact the lives of others as well as our own.
Honestly, you’ll be sad when it finishes.
NB I did wonder if the choice of ‘Morris’ was a tip of the hat to E M Forester’s ‘Maurice’ but it seems an unlikely influence 🤷🏻♀️
LOVED it!
