About this listen

This audio edition is brilliantly and hilariously read by Sally Phillips, known for her performances in Bridget Jones's Diary and Smack the Pony.

More Confessions of a Forty-Something F##k Up: the laugh-out-loud sequel to the hilarious, WTF AM I DOING NOW?! runaway bestseller!

'The new Bridget Jones for our times' – Celia Walden,
Telegraph

There is no magical land you finally arrive at where everything is figured out, fixed and sorted. Life, like us, is a sum of moving parts, and if we’re lucky, we get to keep f**king up, figuring it out and laughing in the face of it all.

Nell’s back. Her life still isn’t going to plan. And she’s still asking the big questions and getting none of the answers. Like, for example:

1. Why is falling in love so easy, but staying in love so hard?

2. What do you do when your friendships are put to the ultimate test?

3. Can we ever really live in the moment and leave the past behind?

4. When everything goes tits up, do you fall apart or jump on a plane to LA with Cricket (an eighty-something widow and your BFF)?

5. And when all else fails, will celebrity-scented candles, smashed avocados and Instagram filters save us?*

In this hilarious, un-put-downable follow-up to the bestselling Confessions of a Forty-Something F##k Up, now the basis for the major TV series, Not Dead Yet, there are laugh-out-loud lessons to be learned, truths to be told, adventures to go on and joys to discover.
But first, Nell has some more confessions . . .

Another Triumph!!

Really enjoyed this book. Lovely easy listening voice. Funny relatable touching and all round wonderful story. Most importantly super advice to get your head on straight and has reminded me firmly that for me perfection can be the enemy of what’s more than good enough. Already so excited for no.3 🙏

More confessions…

It’s a good listen. Even for me a guy. It gives me some insight into a woman’s thoughts.
Though I’m sure I’ll never fully understand a woman.
Characters are believable and narration is great.
My only criticism would be that her f*ck ups are tame compared to my life.
Definitely worth a credit.

I loved both books

Thank you for these books. In this modern world there is so much pressure. High expectations. I struggle. I too have lost a baby and been through IVF unsuccessfully. I too went through the process of having a baby on my own after failed relationships and heartache so I felt much comfort on this book. I must admit that part the way through when talking about the donor sperm selection I had to fast forward too many uncomfortable memories and also where life appears to be going like a fairy tale with the wedding plans etc. I felt relief when the story took a nose dive around the baby talk when the relationship ended because I have had similar situations. I also felt relief that Sam turned out to be an arse. I have met Sam’s and met Johnnie’s and yes I have been ghosted and sent dick pics. I have no idea what has happened to society, however I am pleased that these issues have been addressed in this book. These books have saved me and given me much needed peace and insight. Living alone sometimes you can loose touch that you are not the only one who is experiencing these things. I have many stories to tell and I have started a creative writing course so maybe one day you will be reading my story. My late father said “Lizzie, even when you sue you still have mail sent to you and that to do list is never completed.”
His to do list still sat there on the table after he had gone. Yes gratitude and appreciating the here and now is the answer. Thank you for being the voice of reason.

Wisdom and humour… great combo.

Just so relatable. What an author. What a lovable set of characters. This book like a lovely warm hug. I have thought so many of the same things… mirrors in hairdressers really ARE the devil’s work etc. So many Not just me!

reference to events from the previous volume seems too long for those who have read the earlier confessions of 40 something.
