Summary

Teenager Alison Doig disappeared from Kinloch more than 30 years ago under mysterious circumstances. Her reclusive family still lives in a remote part of the Kintyre peninsula, amidst rumours of wrecking, smuggling and barbaric cruelty.

Now rich American hotelier Alice Wenger has arrived in town, determined to punish those who made her suffer in the past. But someone has vowed to keep hidden sins concealed forever.

Daley’s team must race against time to expose long-held secrets and shameful lies before there are any more victims.

Another Meyrick success

Once again, superb narration by David Monteath. All these Kinloch/Campbeltown books have been very enjoyable - even loved the reference to Michael Kerr’s the Bakers rather than McIlchere as it was (and perhaps still is) in real life - clever. One minus point - I was left hanging at the end (or did I miss something) where was/what happened to - the son of Alison?

Really good entertainment

This is the second book my wife and I have listened to in this series while we drive our motorhome through Europe. Excellent writing. Very descriptive. Good plot. Very funny in parts between Scott and his wife. But above all, the narrator is superb. I don't know how he remembers the different Scottish accents he uses for each of the many characters. And being Scottish, the accents are very broad. A real delight. We need a wee break from this series, but we'll definitely be back.

Thrilling

Full of twists and turns throughout the storyline but what makes fifth star are the incredible characters, all of which I long to meet.
