Summary
An irresistible, feel-good romance, perfect for fans of Rosie Blake, Sophie Kinsella and Lindsey Kelk.
First comes love. Then comes family…
After a lifetime of kissing frogs, Roxie Pratt has given up on finding her own fairytale romance. That is, until she meets her very own Prince Charming, Mark Wright, and he sweeps Roxie off her feet!
So when Mark finally gets down on one knee and pops the question, there’s only one thing left to do: meet the family! And when everything has been picture-perfect so far, what could possibly go wrong…?

Its not you….
This is another fun story from Portia, lots of quirky characters bringing out lots of emotions.
Only criticism is for me the ending felt a bit rushed.
Well narrated.

"Peace & Goodwill to all" at Christmastime
To start, I absolutely love books by Portia Macintosh. Karen Cass is one of my favourite narrators and she always does a fantastic job.
This book is about Marc taking Roxi up to Yorkshire, to see his parents a few days before 'Christmas Day' because they have got engaged, so they are dropping presents off, giving them the good news and then driving back down to their own home in London on Christmas Eve.
Thanks to a blizzard and several inches of snow, Roxi & Marc get snowed in at his parents house which is full of relatives and his ex girlfriend Bea as it is Christmas.
What transpires is awful, Marcs family treat Roxi appallingly, preferring him with his ex-girlfriend Bea. I liked Roxi's character as she stands up for herself. The family should be ashamed of themselves. Also at Christmastime you always hear people saying "Tis the season to be jolly" and "Peace, love and goodwill to everyone" but it has bypassed the 'Wright" Family.
All of this made for an entertaining listen at times but I kept thinking "Haven't these people heard of 'Being Kind' or 'Keep the peace at Christmas' they are mean girls"
I felt the ending was very rushed and I wanted Marc's mum Val, his sister & ex to stop being 'Mean Girl's' and actually apologise for how vile they had been towards Roxi.
Also the worst feeling was Roxi was telling the truth and Marc didn't believe her, so in life you can have the most vital information but it does NOT matter if nobody believes you.
And why couldn't they make more gravy, have they never heard of instant gravy granules as back-up!!!
It was a frustrating listen but I am glad I did.

Poor story I’m afraid Portia
I usually love Portia books but found this one stressful, upsetting and unsettling. Just why Roxy stayed and put up with the sheer nastiness was totally unrealistic …. Really evil people. As always well read by Karen Cass.

Great story
Really liked this one. Good story with developing character storylines. You felt invested and slightly unsure how it would end. Kept me listening!

entertaining but not believable
I really wanted to like it as I enjoyed other Portia’s books but this one was not so great. Narration by Karen Cass was as always brilliant and that’s probably why I carried on reading/listening. If you’re looking for some easy cheesy listening then you’ll enjoy this. It’s really funny made me giggle but the story itself is unbelievable and far fetched. It’s a shame as it had the potential.

Good but not her best
Good book but definitely not her best.
I enjoyed it , nice listen but not as engaging & funny as normal. I didn’t like how isolated Roxi was made to feel. I also felt the end was rushed. Short book compared to others

Very annoying main female character
Roxie is the most annoying character! Whining and unlikeable. I love Karen Cass' narration and usually she can make anything listenable but this book is not good. Really don't waste any money on it

Weak story
I usually love a Portia MacKintosh story but this one wasn’t up to her normal standard, disappointing.
