nothing overly unique/groundbreaking in this series but it's a fun read and packed full of action. again, I'm just left wishing for more!

I’m gonna preface this by saying that I have been a fan of the games for years, played all 3 way back when and only got around to reading the books now when I realised they were on audible. Though I liked them I was always kinda lost on what was happening since so many chunks of info was left out, but having read these 2, this one in particular, it filled in most of the blanks, so if you’re a fan of the series this is definitely worth reading, and if you’re not, you probably will be pretty lost at times.

The actual story itself is pretty interesting actually. It was really short which is pity but for what it is it offers a lot. The characters are solid, the world building is interesting enough and the way Sanderson develops these game ideas into fully realised worlds is impressive. The reading however, especially when voicing the worker, felt a bit off putting at times. That being said Radriars lines are 10/10.

Big caveat - I am not a gamer. If you are, and you play Infinity Blade, then perhaps take my review with a pinch of salt.

Jury is out with this one. It's still a good story, but there are just too many gaps for me. It's as if the skeleton of the plot has been built, but then just random clumps of muscle and detail attached, and the listener is meant to fill in the blanks. It lurched a little too much for my liking. Perhaps I'm just used to Sanderson's normal detail, and clever building of characters and plots - and although this had both good characters and a great plot, it was just too half-baked, without any of the good bits in between. I haven't got around to playing the games, and if I'm being honest, I'm very unlikely to ever do so, and that I think is the main problem here.

I have only read the Novellas, and although I am not lost, I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as I normally do anything by Sanderson.... And it would appear that I am not even going to know how it ends as it looks as though I need to play the last game to work that bit out?

3 stars because it's still Brandon Sanderson and even a gappy novella is still good - but I've I've just come to expect more from a Sanderson novel.

Looking forward to reading a review by someone who has also played the games....Perhaps if it's really good, I will revisit in the context of the games too. Until then, I'm relegating these to the "don't revisit" pile.
