About this listen

Liverpool: a suburban crime family grips a whole city with fear.

And their ambition reaches further still.

Galicia: an entire community waits on the windswept edge of Europe for the delivery of four tonnes of cocaine, brought across the ocean in an almost unbelievable craft.

London: Jonas Merrick, grey and quiet, alone in a small office, seems an unlikely character to be tasked with bringing down an international drug network.

But while Jonas's colleagues regard him as scratchy, fastidious, old, he is also ruthless, cunning and brutally pragmatic. And he has a man on the inside: a would-be money-launderer on that wild Spanish coast. A man who has been undercover for so long, he has almost forgotten who he really is.

And he is due to come home. Has to. For he will be given no mercy if he is caught.

But Jonas needs him to stay.

The superb Jonas Merrick is fast becoming one of the great figures of British spy fiction. In At The Kill may be his most compelling story yet.

This narrator perfectly captures the essence of the main protagonist and maintains the writer"s comforting and appropriate steady pace throughout. No one else would now be able to portray the voice and manner of Jonas Merrick.

The usual satisfying tale from this author

Excellent performance by the narrator, who portrays all the characters with ahumerous, but sympathetic tone.

The understated writing of Gerald Seymour stands out amongst the more excitable ‘spy’ stories. He is in a genre of his own

Being brought up in Chester and being Gallego, it was a very interesting read. I'm quite familiar with galician towns and cities you mentioned and liked how you described the coastline as well. As for the plot, very suspenful, filled with strong characters. We'll done!!

Very good indeed!

….and probably much closer to being factual than most of us would be comfortable with! Superb narration, with tension building slowly from nothing, then never missed a beat. JM being the epitome of the still civil service upper lip.

Excellent Yarn….

Enthralled by this series of books, the author is unique and there aren't enough adjectives to describe his masterpieces. No one other than Ben Allen for narration. Absolutely superb pairing of author and narrator!

BRILLIANT as always - cannot fault!

A good plot that is maybe slightly padded out to suit the Jonas Meyrick character. Overall a good book with a good narrator

A Carefully Woven Plot

Well plotted as usual, character’s realistically developed and most expendable which adds to the tension. Unmarked scene breaks don’t lend themselves well to audiobooks though.

Enjoyable
