About this listen

A Sunday Times Bestseller

‘I Love You, Byeee is poignant and properly funny; a bracing dip into nostalgia, but self-aware, too.’ Observer

The long-awaited new memoir and follow-up to the bestselling Ramble Book.

Hey, how you doing, casual browser? Adam Buxton here. Are you ready for some hot hyperbole about this book? Here we go …

In I Love You, Byeee, the highly anticipated follow up to the bestselling Ramble Book, I reminisce with hilarious and heartwarming candour about the highs and lows of working with Joe Cornish and revolutionising the worlds of DIY TV and podcasting in the process.

You’ll hear about my crazy times hanging out with notorious rock’ n’ roll hellraisers like Travis and Radiohead. I write with humour and heartbreaking poignancy about the challenges of parenting, losing my mother (to death, that is – we didn’t get separated in a shop) and the drug hell that led to me nearly dying in the arms of a comedy legend. There’s also a bit about arguing with my wife, getting instructions on edginess from Louis Theroux, going on Bake Off and much more that you didn’t ask for but definitely need.

For all that, plus hours of bonus waffle and original music, why not download the audiobook, too?

Phew! I think we both need a shower after that. Take care – I love you, byeee!

Another great book. Poignant in places when talking about his mum. Lots of funny. Loved the podcast at the end with Joe.

Really enjoyable

A quality dose of literary medicine from the doctor. I endorse this book. Some stars.

I’m a fan of the podcast but wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. I loved it. A really honest memoir which is both humorous and moving. Mr Buxton seems a lovely soul.

A treat

So much better to hear Adam Buxton speak his book especially with the bonus audio including podcast with Joe Cornish at the end. Tried hard not to devour this. Rewarded myself with listening to it at times when I would not be interrupted. Top marks. Loved it

I pretty much enjoyed everything in the book, if you read his Ramble Book, it's similar but covers other areas of his life. Lots of music and jingles but not like a podcast at all.

Really lends itself to the audio format, easy listen.

It’s such a beautifully written and read book with so many extras it’s almost overwhelming - but in a very good way. Lots and lots of laughs (my fellow train passengers may think I’ve got a laughing version of Tourette’s) and I cried almost all the way through Adam’s letter to his mum. Beautiful. Hilarious. Detailed. I wish I’d never listened to it so I could listen to it all over again for the first time. Thank you Adam!!! And Joe! The bonus podcast is just wonderful. Two close friends with a great perspective on their shared past.

The perfect memoir!

If you enjoyed the Adam & Jo show in the 90s, if you're a long time listener to Adam Buxton's podcast (a podcat), and if you enjoy his self-deprecating humour and occasional crises of confidence, this book is a must for you.

More than any other audiobook that I have read/listened to, it takes full advantage of the medium and drops in lots of multimedia jingles, songs and other audio clips which really lift it from the page and make it a truly digital experience.

While I had been aware that there were tensions between Adam and Joe in their creative partnership – something which is entirely to be expected – it was great to see Adam baring his soul and being really upfront and honest about his feelings.

Having Joe record a podcast with him at the end of the audiobook was an even bigger treat.

Thank you Adam for your work over the years, for keeping so many of us entertained and for this incredibly honest
and unfiltered piece of work.

Well done indeed!

peak Buxton. maybe a bit too much name dropping (soz Adam) and I would have liked to hear a bit more about other projects like Adam and Joe go Tokyo

Another hugely entertaining and moving listen from Adam Buxton. If you are a fan of the podcast and Adam and Joe, you won't be disappointed!

Brilliant!

Wonderfully tender, a hilarious glimpse into the culture of the 90’s and 00’s.
Written with compassion and kindness, Buxton explains the sadness of watching a parent growing older, what it’s like to feel like an important friendship slipping away and the pressure of fame. Lots of extras included in the audio book, including songs, and a one to one with his one time comic partner.

Marvellous Memoir
