I got this as it was free on Plus and I also listened to previous Jeff Dawson SA book.Not a book I would have chosen but I actually really enjoyed it mainly because of Jonathan's usual superb narrating,a genius.I think seeing his name encouraged me to get book

I found this third book about Dr/ Captain Finch slow going to begin with. If I hadn't enjoyed the previous two books I might have given up listening, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The narration is excellent and the story picks up pace and kept me listening so that I finished it in two days

A satisfying continuation of the adventures of Dr Finch

I enjoyed the first book in this series, set in South Africa, I though that the plot held together quite well and there weren't TOO many coincidences. Not as many anyhow as there were in the second one which was still believable, ish. However, this third one has the air of desperation about it, like a journalist who has been given a deadline and writes any old drivel in order to get paid. So much description in the book that one feels it is there to cover the huge holes in the plot, coincidences? Good heavens poor old Captain Finch is tripping over them on a seeming daily basis. I note at the end that Keeble let's us know that Annie will be returning in Book 4 (Kerching) because she is suddenly a part of the plot again and her husband a seeming baddy? I read David Walliams to my kids and cannot stand his work but some of them hang together better than this.

Jonathan Keeble brings to life great books.... and even, not so great. Jeff Dawson's Indigo Finch stories started off quite well. This latest adventure is somewhat far fetched and overly paced. Certainly keeps you moving along but at break neck speed. Far too fast to even believe at times. However, it is what it is. Based on some facts it certainly agood yarn. I will give this a three star for the story in the hope the next adventure has a bit more "verve".

The story was reasonable, but seemed more like a vehicle for some useful history on American Politics and New York life in the early 1900's
