About this listen
Bazza Mackenzie, Pompey’s top criminal, is now beyond reach of DI Joe Faraday. Hungry for power and profile, Bazza decides to stand for Portsmouth North in the general election. And his campaign is taking the city by storm. But politics is an expensive business and so Bazza turns to ex-cop Paul Winter to call in a multi-million pound drug debt. Winter, though, is facing a nightmare of his own and knows his time with Bazza has to end. Enter DS Jimmy Suttle, the young Major Crimes detective once partnered with Winter himself. Bringing Bazza to his knees, he believes, might just be possible.
Three men, Three weeks of hard campaigning. And the darkest reckoning when the final votes are counted.

I haven't read the book or any in the series, but I have listened to all the Winter/Bazza stories on available on Audible.
What did you like best about this story?
A good conclusion to this series of stories featuring Winter & Bazza.
Have you listened to any of Tim Pepper’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I find Tim Pepper's voice very easy to listen to. He distinguishes the different characters well and I found myself liking some characters and disliking others in this Winter/Bazza collection of stories.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
He dared, but will he win?
Any additional comments?
You have to read/listen to the other books concerning Paul Winter and Bazza McKenzie to fully understand their relationship, how it came to be and how it ends. This keeps you on tenterhooks for a good part of the story and the main characters show their true colours.
Fitting End

For us Pompey FC fans, the book also has a lot to say about Portsmouth FC, and the last days of the Premiership under Uncle Avram.
1. I would recommend the book, its up there with Robotham and Rankin-not just for Pomponians- in it’s content.
2. Who is Tim Pepper, he is excellent…what a brilliant narration
3. I am gonna do some Faraday novels now
