Interesting but could be better

It was an okay book
Different story line to usual
However i felt the story was missing more flesh and the same idea was dragged all through
However, decent enough

gripped the whole time

Without giving much away I was gripped and particularly liked how towards the end things fell into place in my own mind. Some details certainly took me by surprise.

recording was not soothing

couldn't concentrate on the story as the recording was cracking windy and extremely tinny sounding like recorded in a bathroom. might only be my device but I think not. so I gave up

Story flows but terrible recording

Terrible recording , background noise sounds like it’s been recorded in an airplane toilet ! Good story but very similar to many other stories of same subject

Sad but Brilliant

Maggie James is fast becoming one of my fav authors! I like the way she tells her story, the twists, how it all comes together, the leaving you on edge…it’s all there! She always chooses brilliant authors too! The plot is sad but unfortunately it’s also very real & brings you back to old headlines so you do fall deep into the story

However I do have to point out that the audio wasn’t quite upto audible standards this time. Bit unsure what was going on but I’m sure I heard a door open and close, it went echoey a couple times & I’m pretty certain I could hear beeping, I paused the book a couple times and it was definitely coming from it! I didn’t let it affect me but it did distract me a little

narration noise

from the 1st chapter it sounds like recording was done in a toilet with strange background noise with long pauses between chapters.
The story kept repeating information over and over making it boring and drawn out..
I was finding the fast forward helpful

Not for those who don’t enjoy a Bristol accent!

Slow and poor ending! I wouldn’t waste your time on listening. Had such higher expectations!

Frustrating and poorly written

As I listened I checked up on the author, thinking it might be a self published book by a novice - turns out this woman has written tons. I found the authorship turgid and irritating, with repetitive descriptions and lame characterisation.
I gave it till the end thinking there might be worthy twists in the tale, but it was very formulaic, with so much more potential than she gave it.
I've (I think) generously given the narrator two stars. She was not great either I'm afraid, but did her best wish what she had, lots of stop starts and too much reliance on accents (she is good at them, but they're often distracting).
