Loved this!
I was not entirely comfortable with the narration at first. It seemed a little fast and emotionless. However, I adjusted to the pace and came to realise that Colin Mace actually did an excellent job here. The story is original, with well drawn characters who are easy to engage with. Also, where so much good fiction has weak, or ‘over the top’ final chapters, Parson’s final chapters in Girl on Fire are perfect. Genuinely exciting, but entirely plausible and left me wanting more. Here’s hoping for a sequel.

Why?
Dear Mr Parsons..., fabulous read enjoying the DC Woolfe series immensely. Total recommend these books to anyone. You will fall in love with characters and find yourself invested in the welfare of Max, Scout and Stan....have to say though the ending to Girl on Fire left me bloody furious, without spoiling it I have to say the author could have gone a hundred different ways so I would honestly like to stand in front of the author ask Why? I drive miles and have listed to the entire series very quickly, honestly can't wait for the next one once.

Excellent Story
I like this series a lot. It is very ‘grounded’ in normality and this one focuses on modern terrorism.

Excellent series of books
I bought 'Girl on Fire' as a Daily Deal but after listening to it for an hour and loving the story, characters and narrator and finding that this was book 5 in the Max Wolfe series, I stopped listening to it and started with book 1 and worked my way through them all. The narrator, Colin Mace, is truly excellent and is up there now with my favourite narrators - so much so that I am now looking for more books narrated by him. The storyline is exciting and very relevant to the world that we live in. The characters are well rounded and I love the relationship between Wolfe and his daughter Scout. I wouldn't say that there are any particular twists or surprises in the book but that really didn't make a difference to my enjoyment of the book. Having read all five books in a short period of time I now feel bereft and hope the next one isn't too long in coming. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed- even by accident
I can't remember downloading this book and was surprised to see it in my library. It's not my usual selection but thought I would try it.
I really enjoyed the characters and storyline so would look for other titles.

Characters that can be related to and a few nice twists. A subject that will be with us for many years yet.

Really believable and enthralling story, well narrated. One of those books that don’t want to finish.

Not as good as the others
I usually love the Max Wolfe series but felt this one was a bit disjointed and the story didn’t seem to flow. It took me a while to get into the story and I’m usually gripped straight away. I’m disliking Pat Whitestone more every book I listen to. Plus there will be no one left in West End Central soon as someone is killed/suffers a terrible tragedy in every book!
Colin Mace is brilliant as usual.
