Summary

Meet Tony Hill's most twisted adversary - a killer with a shopping list of victims, driven by the most perverted of desires. The murder and mutilation of teenager Jennifer Maidment is horrific enough on its own. But it's not long before Tony realises it's just the start of a brutal and ruthless campaign that's targeting an apparently unconnected group of young people. Tony battles to find the answers that will give him personal and professional satisfaction in his most testing investigation yet.

Another excellent listen

Really enjoyed the storylines & narration. The characters are well developed & the twist in the tail was good too

Terrible narration

As expected terrific story but narration totally spoiled it for me. Very amateurish attempts at characterisation failed miserably and every character sounded 65++ which created altered images to the perceived reality in my head.
Love this author but would not purchase another with this narrator

Very well written and performed.

Another great book from Val McDermid.
Twisting plot kept me guessing with more updates on Carol and Tony's relationship.
Enjoyed the calm and pleasant narration too.

Edge of my seat all the way through twists and turns kept it going to the highly unexpected ending. Fantastic

Aaargh….

Bought this having forgotten how much the narrator winds me up, especially in his voicing of female characters,. Every female part, even the strongest most confident, is portrayed as breathy, whiny and hugely annoying. My fault, I knew this after the same narrator sent my blood pressure up in the Dragon Tattoo series - after which I stopped buying any book he narrated. This one slipped through the net. Its a shame because in all other respects, the narrator is actually pretty good.

Poor narration

This book was spoiled by the narration I had to speed it up but even then it was wooden. The story was good but the child witnesses were moronic and I don’t think they would be like that so not realistic.

narrator ruined the listen

Enjoyed the book immensely but ruined by a stilted narrator. Accents terrible and Stacey in previous books had a London accent and now a bad Chinese impression

What an author!!!!!!!

I love Val Mc D. She is a wonderful writer of wonderful stories and I'll follow her to the ends of the earth. From beginning to end she keeps us held and we know her characters as if they live next door. Stunningly good, thanks Val.
