About this listen

THE TOP TEN BESTSELLER: The Inspirational Life of Finn, Britain's Bravest Dog, Winner of the 2017 Daily Mirror Animal Hero of the Year Award

Hertfordshire, October 5th 2016. At around 2 a.m., PC Dave Wardell and his dog, PD Finn, were trying to apprehend a robbery suspect when he turned around and attacked them. Finn was stabbed with a ten-inch-bladed knife, both through his chest, via his armpit and then - the knife bound for Dave - through the top of his head. Finn no doubt saved Dave's life, but the race was on to try and save Finn's.

Dave Wardell's heartfelt memoir charts an incredible journey of friendship and loyalty. It is a celebration of the bond between one man and his dog, from when Dave collected Finn from his kennels at just nine months old, all the way through to Finn's recent and hard-earned retirement. The book charts the career of a highly trained, highly decorated dog. In his time on the job Finn tracked offenders of all kinds; found missing children; tackled armed offenders; saved lives. But Finn isn't just a police dog - he's also a cherished family pet and this is his remarkable, life-affirming story.

Truly touching

A heartwarming true story about an outstanding Police Dog hero and his equally outstanding Police Officer handler. This combination changed the game with regard to the status of police dogs in the eyes of the law: Finn's Law. All's well that ends well for this remarkable dog and his 'Dad'.

Simply Brilliant!

This story is perfectly written and narrated. Having followed Finn’s story since the day of the terrible incident I thought I knew most things about Finn and Dave, how wrong I was.
I could barely take my headphones out throughout this whole story

Beautiful story

Loved the story, I didn't want it to end.

The narrator was 'okay' but not particularly well cast. It would have been much better narrated by Dave Wardell or someone with a similar way of speaking. The narration was too soft and without the variety that Dave (or someone else) would have brought.

It was easy to listen to though and I would buy it again.

Great story. Narrator 'okay' but not great.

I am totally in ewe of Finn and Dave, I’m so glad that Finn has recovered well and has retired 🙏🏼
PD are such a valued member of the police force a PC Officer in their own right. I do hope the law has changed now recognised that PD’s and mounted Horses should have the same rights as their human PC. Thank you for writing this book, I always wished I had joined the Police force, now to old and too chicken 😂😂

What an absolutely heart warming and informative story. Extremely interesting what a police dog handler entails and all the challenges Fin endured from birth. What a special dog.

Inspiring

As a former dog handler I can’t praise this book highly enough. I had my own, once in a lifetime dog like Finn. If you want to understand what it’s like to be a handler this book will take you there. I had a lump in my throat on many occasions listening to this book when Dave was talking about Finn and himself. This book is well written and Ben Addis read it beautifully. I’ll be buying the book and reading it.

This book touched more than any other I’ve ever read
