Summary

Nothing is quite as it seems. Expect the unexpected in this veritable treasure trove of enthralling, witty, dark tales that could come only from the imagination of the greatest storyteller of our time.

In this eerie, enchanting compilation, Stephen King takes listeners down a road less travelled (for good reason) in the gripping 'Riding the Bullet'. Terror becomes déjà vu all over again when you get 'That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is in French'. 'LT's Theory of Pets' will make you stop and think before giving a dog to a loved one. And there are 11 more stories that will keep you awake until dawn.

Narrated by Becky Ann Baker, John Cullum, Boyd Gaines, Peter Gerety, Josh Hamilton, Arliss Howard, Judith Ivey, Stephen King, Justin Long, Oliver Platt and Jay O. Sanders.

Good Listen, But He's Written Better

Stephen King (and his son Joe Hill) are two of my very favourite authors, - both have a breathtaking ability for story, character and keeping us hooked on every word. However, I admit to be slightly disappointed with Everything's Eventual, - I still enjoyed the stories and King has certainly not lost any talent, - it's just a lot of them read (or in this case listen) like they're good when they could've been better. Having said that, both Little Sisters of Eluria and 1408 are magnificent, - the former being a prequel to King's magnificent weird and wonderful Dark Tower books, while 1408 is a extremely good tale of an evil room in a hotel. The Road Virus Heads North is also quite good; a horror author buys a painting... which he soon realises is changing. Finally the titular Everything's Eventual is also connected to his superb Dark Tower books, - here another prequel telling the story of Dinky Ernshaw who appears in the last book.
The other stories are still worth listening to, just they don't seem to be as good for one reason or another.

Exceptional selection of King at his best!

King is probably the weakest narrator, but still very good. The rest are fantastic.

Not all of the stories may be to your taste, personally I found the gunslinger story to be rather slow. But if you like anything of King's you'll find plenty to like in here!

Decent.

Some of the stories aren’t that great, but on the whole, pretty good.
It wes worth the credit I spent on it.

A great collection of stories

I've really enjoyed this collection. As a 'constant reader' of Stephen King's I wanted some shorter stories to enjoy. Loved it. He creates mood and feeling. I especially enjoyed the stories read by him.

Great reading, great book

A selection of short stories, mostly horror, some involving the Dark Tower series that I absolutely love, others involving paintings that change as a murderer gets closer.

All in all, great tales, and all read by the author himself. Fantastic audiobook for Bath listening
