Summary
Some see Britain as an ally; others look to Germany for a hopeful future while some wish to remain as neutral as possible. In this atmosphere of edgy uncertainty, a young lieutenant, Paul Duggan, is drafted into the army's intelligence division, G2, and put on the German desk.
Paul delves into the double-dealing worlds of spies and politics, where ruthlessness, deviousness and occasional violence prevail, before confronting a surprising secret that challenges everything he has grown up believing.

Northwest listener
I thought it was very atmospheric and captured the history of potential war in Ireland. At times I found it a little heavy but informative.

Taught insight into the time
A really good spy story with insight into the time and place, which I knew nothing about.

Slow too star.
Great story, stick with it, its slow to get going. A mixture of historical truth and fiction turned into a family issue and spying. Enjoy.

Lovely slow burn
It’s one of those stories that goes nowhere and everywhere. Great banter in an Irish style that I can listen to endlessly.

An intriguing listen!
I wasn’t expecting anything much, but this little story was surprisingly good - well written and an engaging narration. I find the background very interesting, and oddly worrying in these uncertain times where personal interest and factional ideologies dominate public life and limit freedoms for the innocent. Ireland between the wars isn’t talked about much - part of English colonial disinterest- but this story brought to life the intricacies, assumptions and dangers of the place and the period. And it was quite funny. And a real evocation of Dublin, which was great - almost got my map out …
