Not too bad
An OK story - just about holds your attention for the duration. Some of the storylines implausible e.g. Hitler walkabout and German/ Paris cop relationship. Additionally couldn’t accept David Archer playing a Parisian cop!

Marvellous narration
Tim Bentinck achieves so many accents and tones that the characters are in the room with one. I’ve seldom listened to any finer performance. A complex layered story achieves coherence as a consequence.

Nearly Good
The Hitler visit added nothing to the Story. The idea that two Gestapo officers would tolerate back chat from a French Police Officer lacks credibility And yet there is something about this Nearly Good book that has the potential of a well plotted period piece. I will try the sequel

Couldn't Stop Listening!
Ok, great story, great narration. However, our French Police Detective took so many beatings that he should have been a walking zombie!
I hope to goodness he doesn't suffer similar physical abuse in the next story.
Very enjoyable yarn and plenty scope for more adventures.

Pacy WWII novel set in Paris during occupation - v enjoyable
I thoroughly enjoyed this story -couldn’t put it down. Okay I think the nazis would have shot our intrepid and personally flawed police detective quite early on in his numerous escapades but he managed to get through to resolve this multilayered and intriguing plot. I hope this author tries his hand at some more WWII novels - his writing is excellent

Competent storytelling
This was enjoyable, unflashy stuff with a morose flic, untrustworthy friends and enemies and a good feel of Paris.
