The Cold War is over. After two British agents die under mysterious and strangely old-fashioned circumstances in Germany, Bond is paired up with beautiful CIA agent "Easy" St. John. While the narration is good as always, the narrative is far from Bond. The innuendos are cringeworthy, the story itself quite nondescript and the ending ridiculously rushed, despite being the one opportunity for this book to introduce a true Bond-like action scene. It feels as if this was written under contractual obligation rather than to tell a good story.
