good story and performance, however...

Trumpets call of annoyance overshadows and annoys more than it needs to. whoever decided that it needed should be sentenced to stepping on legos for 10 minutes..
Except for the huge annoyance, the world grows richer, the sorry fuller. characters gets more fleshed out and all in all it was wonderfull. Narrator is awesome as always , especially when she sometimes goes into the voice of the character as another character talks about them (saying their name, she uses tavis voice sometimes when talking about just the word tavi ) I just love her job here.

Loved Dresden files and really enjoying this series of books, I cant wait for captains fury, hopefully it is already on audible or ill be getting out the old kindle

This would've been a 5 star if it weren't for the bugle that interrupts paragraphs at least 5 times in the book for absolutely no bloody reason! Very irritating!

Loved the book, especially Tavi and his wit.
The performance is 10/10 but looses a star because of the excessive use of trumpets.

this book needs re-editing. I assume that a trumpet sound effect was meant to signify a change in important chapters or character POV. it appears to be inserted completely randomly through the book, pulling me out of the story at some quite intense moments.

a shame, because otherwise this series is one of the finest sword-and-sorcery series I have ever read, and this book is where it really starts to build.

Hopefully Amazon will see these reviews and have a look at the edits made in production.

love this series great book. there was some really random trumpet fanfare style music in the middle of some chapters that didn't do anything for the story. didn't really take anything away from the story but didn't add anything either and was a bit annoying

The biggest issue I have had with the codex alera series is the random loud fanfares that happen mid-chapter.
These just aren't needed and throw you out of the story.

I could forgive them if they were between chapters but they happen in places that make no sense at all.

Other than that the voice work is as expected from Kate and the story is as entertaining as others of Jim's work.
