Summary

Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom - all because of a reckless bargain her father struck. And since birth, she has been training to kill him.

Betrayed by her family yet bound to obey, Nyx rails against her fate. Still, on her 17th birthday, she abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, disarm him, and break the 900-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle - a shifting maze of magical rooms - enthralls her. As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. But even if she can bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him?

Based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty is a dazzling love story about our deepest desires and their power to change our destiny.

Mmm it was ok…

I expected a little bit more, I like retelling stories, but this one was far from being entertaining…Child Thief keeps being my top one.

waste of 1 credit

I did not like this book, I did not understand it, not that it was too complicated but it didn't really make any sense. Girl gets married to monster, obviously a very handsome one..falls in love with his shadow, while at the same time trying to destroy his castle and save Arcadia..
She has been trained all her life to destroy the monster she now loves and hates and then loves again..no she loves his shadow, hates the monster then hates the shadow..loves the demon again and so on...you would think this happens in a lengthy amount of time but no..it all happens in a matter of days..
The so called life training to defeat the demon is her learning how to draw 4 symbols...wow so epic..
Magic system? I have no idea..
The heroine keeps telling us how evil she is but not really showing us anything..
This book was not for me, when I see the label fantasy I want fantasy not recycled Greek mythology and teenage drama
