Critic reviews
"The plot is fantastic and so original! Twists, turns, mysterious, haunting moments. It had my pulse facing, heart pounding tears rolling down my face and smiling with excitement.” (Dark Readers)

Superb!
Wonderful world-building with lots of action. Great plot with characters that are easy to care about. It drew me in completely and I can’t wait to get started on the next one.

Enjoyed it
I am enjoying this series more than I thought I might. I liked that there were 2 narrators for this book, it helped to break the story up.

A galloping good read.
Like every Cassandra Clare book I have read, this has believable characters and an absorbing plot. The narrative is fast paced with plenty of plot twists. I personally prefer the performance to either be a full cast or a single reader. That having been said, Heather Lind and Ed Westwick both performed well and I'd have been happy if either of them had performed the whole book alone. I enjoyed this and would happily recommend it to anyone. a
Although it is aimed at a young adult audience there is plenty to satisfy older readers too.

A fabulously detailed fantasy fiction trilogy
I loved Cassandra’s portrayal of the main characters. Developing their storylines. The narration was also good.

Book 2
The story, performances and characters of this book are all incredible. The story can be very moving and the performances add so much depth to the characters. I’m looking forward to listening to book 3.

Great story but some small drawbacks
Love the book but the voiceovers did distract from it a bit. Whilst Lind has a lovely speaking voice when using her own accent and dialect her accents and voice work left me cold.
If you cannot convincingly deliver an accent then it is better to read without one
