Summary

Three gripping crime fiction thrillers featuring DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr. Georgina Cavendish.

Deadly Games

A killer's playing cat and mouse - and winning.

DCI Whitney Walker’s in trouble. She’s threatened with demotion if she screws up another case. So, when a killer starts murdering female students, it’s a chance to redeem herself. Forensic psychologist, Dr Georgina Cavendish, has spent her life inside the university walls, but when one of her students is murdered, she steps out from behind the textbooks and puts her skills to the test. The two headstrong women join forces to stop the killer. But sparks fly when real world policing meets academic theory, and it’s not a pretty sight.

Fatal Justice

A vigilante is on the loose, dishing out their kind of justice.

A string of mutilated bodies sees DCI Whitney Walker back in action. But when she discovers the victims have all been grooming young girls, she fears a vigilante is on the loose. And while she understands the motive, no one is above the law. Once again, she turns to forensic psychologist, Dr. Georgina Cavendish, to unravel the cryptic clues. But will they be able to save the next victim from a gruesome death?

Death Track

Catch the train if you dare…

After a teenage boy is found dead on a Lenchester train, Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker believes they’re being targeted by the notorious Carriage Killer, who chooses a local rail network, commits four murders, and moves on. Against her wishes, Walker’s boss brings in officers from another force to help the investigation and prevent more deaths, but she’s forced to defend her team against this outside interference. Dr. Georgina Cavendish is by her side in an attempt to bring to an end this killing spree. But how can they get into the mind of a killer who has already killed twelve times in two years without leaving behind a single clue?

Critic reviews

"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

George & Whitney Investigate!

Sally Rigby leans on relationships between characters from different classes. It works quite well. I particularly like the criminal psychology of the 'perps'. The particular crimes committed are all contemporary and relevant. There is good detail on the motivation of the criminals and the devastating affects on the victims.

Great entertainment and builds well to the end

Thoroughly enjoyed the intertwining stories. Good build of characters and a nice mix of ups and downs. Can be unnecessarily graphic about the events. So not for the faint hearted.

Predictable

I have just finished the first 6 hour story if this trilogy. To be honest I struggled with the narrator, who seems a bit, how should I say, plummey. And I sometimes had difficulty telling the characters apart, as the same characters voice changed slightly as the book goes on.
The story is not bad but predictable, I guessed whio did the deeds long before the end, and some of the plot moves. So it is a case of never mind the quality feel the width. Three books for the price of one. I can see why now...

Cavendish & Walker: Volumes 1-3

This Volume contains the 1st 3 books and is a super starter to this series. Book 1 = Deadly game. Book 2 = Fatal Justice. Book 3 = Death Track.
None we get to know the characters it is a real page turner or should I say ear-bender. Just have to keep listening to the excellent narration by Clare Corbett. I was slightly surprised at the twisty satisfactory ending of book three so, I am now going to look for Book 4 of this series by Sally Rigby. Just waiting to see Walker stamp on her supervisors toes once more 😂 as we always know she will!
