About this listen

Legendary account of the author's voyage around Cape Horn in a 32-foot sailboat, sailing east to west (thus the Horn is to starboard, or on the right). This is a notoriously difficult and dangerous passage, especially in a boat this size.

the mechanical narration and horrendous pronunciation of many words and phrases spoils an excellent book...

The book took over my days until it finally arrived at the Golden Gate. I think the book is as much about a young man growing up as it is about the Horn, the author coming into the realisation that the world is not all about us, as we all come to realise, and he goes through a lot as he develops, gains confidence, hardens up and joins the complicated world of adulthood.

I loved it but what happened Molly?

Well written, and well performed. Although this is one of those rare occasions where I think the author is a better orator than the one chosen to read his work. Brilliant though... Well done

Great account of a good adventure

This book is not bad but has little to do with rounding the Horn. More to do with a sailor (and an author) learning his craft. The narrator's style and delivery would be better suited to children's books. In addition, there's the common complaint that ludicrous mispronunciation by a narrator is not corrected by (apparently equally unlettered) editors.

Catchy title is no indication of content
