Summary

In a man's world, it's every woman for herself....

Daisy Lane returns to her hometown of Gosport after a spell abroad. She's been getting over the bad times, having lost both her husband, Kenny, and her lover, Eddie, to violent deaths. In her months away from home, Daisy has been busy. She's given birth to a baby boy, Eddie's son, and has been plotting her revenge on Roy Kemp: the London gangster who viciously murdered Eddie. Now she's ready to carry out those plans. But is it possible for a vulnerable woman to take on a man like Roy Kemp and not be badly hurt?

fantastic book!

Love these stories. The characters have depth and are believable. There is something in how the author manages to touch on the dark side of life while keeping it a light book to follow. She has an exquisite way of setting scenes and by the end of the book you feel you have been on a journey with the characters.

Superb

The second in a series, as good if not better than the first I will certainly be listening to more, the usual excellent performance by Annie Aldington.

Not as good as "Trust Nobody"

This the second book in the 'Daisy Lane' series stretches credibility further that this ordinary young lady can take on the gang fraternities of the 60's. One also has to accept a number of historical discrepances, some fairly minor but others more central to the plot concerning hippies in 1964/65, as well as the widespread use of hard drugs, and their being sold in schools! Furthermore elements of the plot, such as Daisy's revenge scam and the openness of the 60's sex trade are a further stretch of the imagination. The book is not for the faint hearted with very strong language and a number of violent and sexual scenes graphically described; but if you have listened to the first book in the series this will not come as a surprise. Having said all this it is a 'page turner' albeit quite slow at times, which cost the rating a mark. Very well read with fairly good characterisations, along some of the male 'voices' sound very samey! Will I download Book 3, probably because I want to know what happens next, but it won't be for a while.
