About this listen

Napoleon has been defeated at Waterloo, and the ensuing peace brings with it both the desertion of nearly half of Captain Aubrey's crew and the sudden dimming of Aubrey's career prospects in a peacetime navy. I very much enjoyed this book but the pleasure is tinged with a little sadness knowing that it is the last full Aubrey Maturin novel. well read as always and very much makes you think that even after all this time, perhaps especially, a movie sequel with the same cast could be excellent.

So sad to have reached the end of this wonderful series, quite simply a tour de force - especially this audible version where the brilliance of Ric Jerrom’s narration matches that of Patrick O’Brian’s writing.

Splendid Royal Naval adventure, with at its centre , the relationship between Jack and Steven maturin
