I was gripped and the story does not just finish but goes on a little longer thsn expected. Harsh reality and secrets create a devious interplay. Pity some aspects were just a little too far fetched.

Would you consider the audio edition of Blood Sisters to be better than the print version?

I don't know, as I haven't read the book. But I think I'd like the audio edition better as I really love the voices who bring the characters to life! I love how the main characters have their own voice and you immediately know who's telling the story.

What other book might you compare Blood Sisters to, and why?

I can't really compare it to anything. It's suspenseful, it has some unexpected twists and I couldn't put the book down! The so many "aha!" moments were very nice!

Which character – as performed by Zoe Thorne and Emilia Fox – was your favourite?

I love Emilia Fox, her narration is always perfect. She does a great job in bringing her characters to life. This is the first (and only) book read by Zoe Thorne and I can't wait to hear more from her! Emilia and Zoe are both high up there for me!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved everything. I felt so bad for Kitty, knowing in her head quite well what is going on, understanding everything going on around her, but not being able to make others understand her or let her know that there is a real person in her body who wants to make herself known to the others. This was very well described I think. And very well narrated by Zoe.

Any additional comments?

Loved the book, loved that Allison and Kitty had their own voice, loved how the story went back and forth past and present. The several moments when a piece of the puzzle falls in to place. It was gripping, the voices were awesome and I couldn't put the book down one minute! Please Zoe and Emilia, read more books (together)!

This story follows the lives of Kitty and Alison. Kitty has been brain damaged and is non-verbal and wheelchair bound. She lives is a supported living home where she feels fury at the staff and other residents. Her memory is one of her greatest frustrations. Every memory feels infuriatingly just out of reach, with occasional flashes of the past that are gone too soon. Alison is an artist who teaches glass artistry. On a whim she applies for a job as artist in residence at a local prison and gets the job. Unbeknown to her, she is entering a world of smoke and mirrors, where staff and inmates act like they have your back and you never know who to rely on or believe. The suspense in this thriller builds and builds throughout, with shocks and surprises throughout. I really felt that I was kept on my toes and while I worked out a small amount of the story, I was regularly surprised and confused throughout.In the words of Sir Walter Scott "Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive" and there is plenty of deception is this intense tale.Who to like? who to trust? and who did what? are questions that were a constant throughout. The narrators for Blood Sisters are Zoe Thorne and Emilia Fox and they do an outstanding job, both with the characterisation and the various voices. They manage to maintain the intensity, mood and suspense that are present throughout, while pulling you in until you are completely invested.

I liked the story and setting of this book. the character of Alison felt flawed once her age was revealed as early 30s. The narration and characters personality and views appeared to be more suitable to a woman in her 50s+. This made me disengage a little as I didn't believe in the character and felt it was off in terms of generational believability.

As the publicity says, this is about 3 girls who get involved in an accident. Vanessa is left dead, Kitty is left with permanent disabilities, Alison is OK and goes on to become an art teacher. Of the last two, one is good, one is bad but it's not immediately clear which is which.

The story (which covers more than just the accident), is told alternately from the perspective of each of the two girls who are still alive, and alternately from the perspective of two time periods - the time of the accident and what we take to be the present day. We switch at the end of each chapter, each chapter ending on a cliff hanger. Since there are 83 chapters, that is an awful lot of cliff hanging. This ploy for creating cliff hangers was a bit over-used I think.

The flow of revelations is continuous and measured throughout the book. There are an awful lot of revelations, it goes on and on relentlessly as though the author had it all mapped out right at the start. The story is complex, but despite that, easy to follow. There is plenty of action, we don't get bored.

With all the action squeezed in as it is, there's not much room left for depth and believability. We don't feel that we are living in the story, we don't manage to suspend disbelief, an important ingredient of a good story.

I didn't much like the narrator reading Kitty's part, the one reading Alison's part was OK.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I found that the book started out okay but after the first 3rd just seemed to go on, and on, and on. I agree with a previous reviewer that the narrator for Alison was very dull and her voice did not work for me especially when she reading in a male voice. Some of the situations seemed very far fetched and unrealistic.
