About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

They called for a break, and Gambon magicked up a cigarette from out of his beard. He and I were often to be found outside the stage door, having 'a breath of fresh air', as we referred to it. There would be painters and plasterers and chippies and sparks, and among them all would be me and Dumbledore having a crafty cigarette.

From Borrower to wizard, Tom Felton's adolescence was anything but ordinary. His early rise to fame saw him catapulted into the limelight aged just twelve when he landed the iconic role of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.

Speaking with candour and his own trademark humour, Tom shares his experience of growing up on screen and as part of the wizarding world for the very first time. He tells all about his big break, what filming was really like and the lasting friendships he made during ten years as part of the franchise, as well as the highs and lows of fame and the reality of navigating adult life after filming finished.

Prepare to meet a real-life wizard.

I really enjoyed this. Felton is a natural storyteller with a lovely way of keeping the listener captivated and entertained. I usually hate memoirs but this was self-effacing, humble, funny and fascinating.

Human and heartfelt

I've always known that Tom Felton is a talented actor, musician and generally - a wonderful human being. His book reflects all of that and even more. His writing is light and witty, funny, honest and heartwarming. You will laugh a lot and cry too. The memoir touches upon some very important topics and makes you self-reflect as well. If you have a chance - please listen to the audiobook version because Tom's narration is brilliant. I can't recommend it more!
It deserves all the praise. Such a beautiful book.

An open-hearted memoir written with great talent

This is not my usual type of book - I’m not even a big HP fan
It’s funny, honest, entertaining and very enjoyable.
As expected, Tom is excellent narrator and very easy to listen to. He doesn’t spill any shocking beans from his time in HP movies, but still comes across as being honest and not sugar coating the experience. He seems very likeable
Really enjoyed this book

A bloody good yarn about Tom Felton as a upcoming actor before Harry Potter, during Harry Potter and after Harry Potter whose a bloody good down to earth young chap to boot!! It is at the same time quite poignant, serious, funny, sad and uplifting with dark humour laced in as well and with sections of it that can be relatable to other peoples lives. After listening to this (much better in audio) I can safely say "You're not a Harry Potter w***** or broomstick p*** Mr Felton at all!!

Didn’t know what to expect from this. Ordinarily wouldn’t have been something I would go for. But my wife recently sat me through every single Harry Potter film and this seemed to be advertised on Audible by the time we’d finished them. I thought Tom wrote and delivered his book brilliantly. It’s very honest, and is performed in a way that’s related to everyday conversation. Thanks for such an enjoyable and insightful look into your life so far! Highly recommend! A+

Simply brilliant

Hogwarts and the world of Harry Potter seems like the perfect world. We had only seen it. How did all those wonderful children live that dream for so many years and come out to the real world without being lost at some point. loved it. honest and thoughtful. Tom is lovely to listen to. 5 stars
