Mickey7's antimatter gambit paid off. He's out of the Expendable game and doing whatever else he can to help support the threatened colony on the ice world Niflheim. But the colony now desperately needs the one thing he doesn't want to give them: the antimatter in the bomb he claimed the alien creepers have.
Without it, the colony won't survive the coming years. With it, the colony leader can finally get rid of Mickey7 for good.
But the planet's indigenous races have their own plans for Mickey7 and the human colony. They want the colony resources, all of them, and they won't stop until they've devoured every last scrap.

2nd book.. better than the first
Mickey's continued adventures.
great story, moves apace, and is well rounded with great character arc's.
narration was perfect too.
if you like the first book, you'll like this more.

Easily as good as Mickey 7 and should have been rolled into one novel. The characters and dark humour continue seamlessly.

Mickey Barnes hits it again
really enjoyed listening to this book, especially listening to book 1 & 2 back to back.
a pretty basic story that follows on , almost, directly from book 1 and ties things together nicely.
if I had to be picky I'd simply suggest that there are some accents than people (particularly Americans) should not attempt. don't get me wrong, the narrator is brilliant, and after watching the movie he is still my go to for the voice of Micky. BUT there's one or two characters that should have had a voice he could pull off believably. I'm not sure what it was supposed to be but it sounds like Welsh/Scottish/Irish with a hint of Jamaican 😂 however, it's not enough to put me off listening though, and it shouldn't put you off either.

A good second outing
The first Mickey7 was a good read and lots of fun but needed a little more . I feel that this could have easily have been part of the first book, the storyline of this book felt a bit drawn out. Still lots of fun and good to understand more of the characters and their relationships with Micky… one thing I kept noticing was the author kept using the same lines all the way through… for instance “I opened my mouth, paused, and closed my mouth… this was said about 30 odd times… was it a character trait I missed? At one point I did wonder if this is more of a comedy than anything else, I’m not sure. Bottom line an enjoyable read, thanks to the author.

Good follow on from mickey 7 original.
Good follow up in same style as book one. If you liked the original, this is an easy purchase to recommend.

Great follow-up, but still weird acting choices
Started listening to this straight after finishing the first book, and I'm happy to say the sequel is even better than the first.
The story has expanded in scope, and the issues now involve everyone, not just Mickey.
The writing is just as good, if not better than the first book, with that same mixture of serious and comedy, which know when it needs to be either.
Basically, if you liked the first book, you'll like this.
Again, I have an issue with the performance, not because it's bad, John Pirhalla is still excellent voicing everyone, but because they once again don't fully use Katherine Chin to voice Nasha, as she's still only used to voice her when using coms, which I think only happens once? I had actually forgotten she was in this, as I think Nasha only uses coms once during the story at about the half-way point, and you never hear her again. Every time the character speaks before or after that it's John voicing her. To have Katherine come in for one line then dip is still something I find weird and really took me out of it for the portion she was speaking.
