Summary
The next Agatha Raisin mystery from 23 million copy-selling author M. C. Beaton, the Queen of Cosy Crime, about an eccentric Cotswolds-based detective with an erratic love life and a penchant for G and Ts . . .
Agatha and her assistant, Toni, are driving to their friend Bill Wong's wedding, thinking of nothing more than what the beautiful bride will be wearing when a terrified young man comes running down the country lane towards them wearing. . . nothing at all.
The encounter leads them to become embroiled with a naturist group, a disappearing corpse, fantasy games, witchcraft, an ice cream empire, intrigue and murder. In the meantime, Agatha's hectic life swirls along at dizzying pace, her private detective agency as busy as ever and her private affairs in turmoil - old loves to contend with and a new suitor on the scene.
Then she finds herself in deadly danger when she begins to close in on a suspected murderer and the sinister nature of the ice cream business leads her to a chilling conclusion.
Critic reviews
"Full of perfectly pitched interest, intrigue and charm." (Lee Child)
"Agatha is like Miss Marple with a drinking problem, a pack-a-day habit and major man lust. In fact, I think she could be living my dream life." (Entertainment Weekly)
"M. C. Beaton's imperfect heroine is an absolute gem." (Publishers Weekly)

Saucy sorcery in sweet society.
Yet another terrific performance by Penelope Keith who carries off Agatha's, 'snakes and bastards', as if she was a villager herself caught in the mystic mayhem of the Cotswolds. Agatha gets wrapped/unwrapped up in a nudist society, death announces itself early on and both she and Tony risk romantic entanglements as mysterious events unfurl around them. This is another winner, easy on the ear and bound to keep your interest until the end.

Great book with a few rushed parts
Another great Agatha Raisin mystery, love the extra details and descriptions but sometimes these are overly repetitive (using the exact wording as previous books and the same book over and over), and this one felt like a bit of a rushed ending.

Another Raisin mystery...again
I do love the Agatha Raisin stories, but this one had nothing new to add to the series. It felt like a rehash of older stories, and a way to cash in on the late MC Beaton name. Worth a listen, but probably as an introduction to the series.
Penelope Keith was as magnificent as ever as narrator.

Mrs Beaton has left us in good hands!
I have enjoyed this book greatly! Agatha has evolved slightly and very much for the better, she is slightly less insecure and jealous, which, for me, is a great improvement. I am looking forward to the next books and am grateful that M. C. Beaton ensured the continuation of her series.

Penelope IS Agatha
It's wonderful to have Agatha back at it after the cliffhanger in the previous book. There's definitely a different feel given the new writer of these books and some things don't quite match previous plots/behaviours but it's not worth quibbling over. Still a 5 star book all round.
