Summary
'She's had men popping in and out of there all day. They're more regular than our cuckoo clock.'
When Rose escapes from London and her handsome and charming ex-lover, she has no idea her occupation as an aromatherapist will cause such a scandal in her new country village. All she wants is a bit of peace and quiet, but her new neighbours soon ensure that her life is more chaotic than ever before. But that may be because Rose is falling in love....

OK but not the best
I got to the end of this audio & thought is that it??? There were so many characters stories that were only touched on & there was no climactic elements to any of them. It was good but not brilliant which is whst I usually expect of Carole Matthews.

Not as good as her other books
I normally like Ms Matthew’s writing but this is an old book and what used to be acceptable 25 years ago now feels frustratingly chauvinist. Rose has left her married lover but seems all too willing to get into another affair
Dan who falls in love with Rose doesn’t seem in a hurry to end things with his girl friend yet somehow it’s Rose who needs to apologise to him??? As I said. This might have been acceptable in 1980 but today’s women wouldn’t relate to such a story

Shame about the narrator
Firstly I normally love Carole’s books .
The story was fine, as usual a funny, light hearted plot. With fun characters that you’re hoping will finally get together.
For me the big issue was the narrator, Annie Aldington is a talented narrator, but to my mind her narration just didn’t suit the story , she is way too serious ( her narration of Matina Cole type books is well suited )
So this irritated me throughout the book., and totally spoilt it.
