Just finished listening to this…..what a ride! Not often a series gets better as it goes along but JD.Kirk has surpassed himself. Angus is Jack Logan, without his incredible narration skills which bring each character to life, making each instantly recognisable, it would not be quite so remarkable! 10 stars!!

JD Kirk does not disappoint with this novel. The characters are all well drawn and the story has some good twists with the usual black humour, which is one of the best parts for me! ....but in this one we have the added bonus of two scenes that would bring a tear to a glass eye, you have been warned! Finally, the ending is first heart warming then chilling... see what I did there? Well, Tyler would appreciate it.

As ever JD Kirk did not disappoint! Have loved getting to know these well described characters and hope there will be more books after the tenth, which I am about to start!
After so many crime stories you might think you can you work out who done what, but not always! Twists to the very end! xXx

I have loved every single DCI jack logan story and while i also enjoyed this story it was disappointing. It has the same loveable character and humour that characterises the other books in the series. It is however a lot more unfocused and some of the actions of the “villain” make no sense at all.

It tries to branch out and have two separate narrative unfold at the same time. Both stories are interesting however the most disappoint aspect is that the perpetrators of the crime have backward motivations and aren’t realistic at all.

This isn’t far away from being a really good story but it needed to either focus more on the crime or make the villain more realistic.
