About this listen

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

"The war is over. The Separatists have been defeated, and the Jedi rebellion has been foiled. We stand on the threshold of a new beginning." (Emperor Palpatine)

For a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights brought peace and order to the Galactic Republic, aided by their connection to the mystical energy field known as the Force. But they were betrayed - and the entire galaxy has paid the price. It is the Age of the Empire.

Now Emperor Palpatine, once Chancellor of the Republic and secretly a Sith follower of the dark side of the Force, has brought his own peace and order to the galaxy. Peace through brutal repression, and order through increasing control of his subjects’ lives.

But even as the Emperor tightens his iron grip, others have begun to question his means and motives. And still others, whose lives were destroyed by Palpatine’s machinations, lay scattered about the galaxy like unexploded bombs, waiting to go off....

The first Star Wars novel created in collaboration with the Lucasfilm Story Group, Star Wars: A New Dawn is set during the legendary "Dark Times" between Episodes III and IV and tells the story of how two of the lead characters from the animated series Star Wars Rebels first came to cross paths. Featuring a foreword by Dave Filoni.

and this is a phenomenally good companion to it, decided to get this ahead of re-watching Rebels ahead of Ashoka coming out. Really worth it and utterly impressed by the narrator's impersonation of Kanan's voice, Heras is a little bit off but not distractingly so and other characters are really well performed.

Star Wars Rebels is the best Star Wars

After Order 66, A New Dawn introduces the future heroes of Rebels. Tell us the story of how the start of the resistance begins.

great to hear how 2 iconic star wars characters meet up. the suspense leading to kanans reveal of force powers was great, however underwhelmed with the final battle with videon. it doesn't take away from an interesting story, how the empire actually ruined the lives of entire systems with its one way thinking. how the leadership all craved one thing......power.
very good book and very useful for fans who want total knowledge

the metting of kanan and hera!!

As a fan of the Star Wars: Rebels series, I’ve been seeking stories that expand my knowledge of the characters. The addition of Rae Sloane provided an excellent crossover as I’ve also really enjoyed the Aftermath trilogy as well.

Excellent pace, twists, character development, and world building. Nicely narrated as well.

I’m left hoping for more from this author and his portrayal of the characters.

Excellent world building

It makes me happy seeing stories with the same characters we love in rebels, completes me really. Hearing and knowing their witty banter on screen and in this book was the best part 😁😁
