Stephen J. Dempsey, Ph.D., received his doctorate in corporate reporting and finance from Virginia Tech. A professor at the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business since 1987, he is the recipient of numerous academic honors and teaching awards (most recently, the University's top teaching award for 2016). Although most of his writing career has been technical in nature, one day when on a family trip to their summer place in Canada his children prompted him to write a novel. He enjoyed telling impromptu stories during the ride, and by the end of the trip he had the basic idea for "Options." Aside from writing, his interests include reading, cartooning, landscaping, cooking, boating, scuba diving, and playing jazz saxophone. He lives with his wife in northern Vermont.
