Priscilla Morris is a British author of English-Bosnian parentage. She grew up in London, spending childhood summers in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in the former Yugoslavia. She studied at Cambridge University and the University of East Anglia, where she gained a PhD in Creative Writing. She now teaches at University College Dublin and lives between Ireland and Spain. Black Butterflies, her debut novel, was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction 2023, the RSL Ondaatje Prize, the Authors' Club Best First Novel Award, the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize and the Nota Bene Prize. It was Indie Fiction Book of the Month in May 2022. Inspired by family history, the siege of Sarajevo is seen through the eyes of artist and teacher Zora.
