Born in Texas, Mark Wheaton is the award-winning author of EMILY ETERNAL (written as M.G. Wheaton) which has been translated into five languages and was named one of the Best SciFi Novels of the Year by the Financial Times. Wheaton is also the author of the bestselling LA-set, Fr. Chavez crime trilogy, FIELDS OF WRATH, CITY OF STRANGERS, and WAGES OF SIN, as well as sci-fi thriller, THE QUAKE CITIES. Wheaton's most recent book, WHO HAUNTS YOU, was named NetGalley/We Are Bookish's Most Popular Horror Audiobook of the Year and made “Best of” lists at LOCUS and the UK’s Ginger Nuts of Horror. He is also a co-author, with his two children, of the middle-grade mystery, THE CURIOSITIES. Wheaton has also worked as a screenwriter (FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE MESSENGERS, VOICE FROM THE STONE), comic book writer (Dark Horse's THE CLEANERS), video game scripter (WET 2, F.E.A.R. franchise), and movie journo for such outlets as FANGORIA, TOTAL FILM, SFX, E!, SYFY, SHIVERS, STARBURST, L'ECRAN FANTASTIQUE and many more. He has published several horror short stories including KILLER OF HOGS, long-listed by Ellen Datlow for Best Horror of 2022, and IN THE WATER, which appeared in the 2021 Stoker Award-nominated anthology, WORST LAID PLANS. Wheaton started out in the theater, writing his first play at 19, a children’s piece, EVITA SASSY AND THE BLACK MASK’S LAST GASP, which premiered at the TADA! Children’s Theater in New York City. Two years later, he directed the Texas premiere of Clive Barker’s play, THE HISTORY OF THE DEVIL, in Austin. Wheaton is autistic and often explores the non-neurotypical experience in his fiction.
