Dr. Lampson has had a wonderful career as a psychologist treating people with eating disorders and working with couples. In 2014, Dr. Lampson became enamored with the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy and then worked to be a Certified Gottman Therapist and Advanced Trainer of the Gottman Method. This work inspired her to develop Gottman-RED (Relationships with Eating Disorders) couples therapy - a new therapy to help couples with issues related to food, weight, compulsive exercise, or body image. Her dream is to train therapists to use this therapy and to offer workshops to couples impacted by these issues. The book is a first step in this direction. Dr. Lampson's first professional book was co-authored with her husband, Dan Reiff, Eating Disorders: Nutrition Therapy in the Recovery Process. This 620 page book is a resource for clinicians interested in both nutrition and topics like social eating, pregnancy, and indicators of recovery. Her first novel is Petey, the One-Eyed Rat. Although the title might suggest that this is a children's book, it is actually a thought provoking story that adults love. Petey, an anthropomorphized rat, deals with bullying, rejection, love, body image issues, grief and anxiety. This new book, Therapy for Relationships with Eating Disorders: A Clinician's Guide to Gottman-RED Couples Therapy, is her newest venture in which the reader follows four couples with food related issues through the ups and downs of couples therapy.
