Douglas Schofield was raised and educated in British Columbia, where he earned degrees in History and Law. Over the next four decades, he worked as a trial lawyer in Canada, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. During those years, he prosecuted and defended hundreds of cases of serious crime, and at one point held the position of Assistant Solicitor General in the Cayman Islands Government. In 2018, Douglas retired from the practice of law, moved back to Canada, and devoted himself full time to his writing. Douglas has written six novels and one work of non-fiction. His sixth novel, "The Last Viracocha", was released in December, 2024. Its science-fiction / alien-contact premise is a significant departure of genre from his previous work, all of which was focused on crime (with a few touches of the paranormal), but it is one he felt driven to write due to the currently calamitous state of our planet.
