About this listen

Heartbroken after a bitter divorce, Brendan finds solace in running his beloved flower shop. His vow to think twice before jumping into a new relationship becomes hard to keep when he meets Hugh, a flamboyant hairstylist with skillful hands and a cheeky smile.

Hugh has finally succeeded in opening his own salon, but the glow of his success is overshadowed by not having anyone to celebrate it with. When brawny, six-foot-three Brendan appears on his doorstep with a bouquet of exquisite flowers, Hugh is tempted to break his no-dating-clients rule. Their friendship blooms fast but so does Hugh’s suspicion of Brendan being straight.

One kiss changes everything though. Hugh’s world is set on fire, and even if Brendan gets cold feet, Hugh isn’t about to let go of what could be love. A story of second chances, idiots in love, and steamy jacuzzi scenes.

A standalone book 1 (novella) introducing the series of MM books from the contemporary Pursuit of Love series.

short, sweet and spicy

I enjoyed reading this short novella back in February so jumped at the opportunity to listen to the audiobook. At only 2 and a half hours it's an easy listen with some pretty spicy scenes after the halfway mark. It took me a moment to get used to the English narrator, but then it took me much longer to get used to an American narrator when I first started listening to MM romance. Once I got used to it I found it very easy to listen to and thought he did a great job of differentiating the two characters.

Spicy MM with heart & a distinctly British accent!

Super spicy but also super lovely as well, this quick-read novella has wonderful characters in burly florest Brendan and his flamboyant but clueless love interest Hugh. Honestly those two men - they need a good shake to get them together! But oh, when they do, that's when the smùt really starts flying! I advise against listening to the later chapters in public as there's some d!rty talk you will seriously struggle to keep a straight face for (in the best way possible) ;) Also it's worth noting that not only is the book set in the UK, but the narrator pulls the whole thing off complete with regional accents - that took a bit of getting used to for someone accustomed to American narrators, but I love that it was true to the book in that way.

MM Short Spicy novella

Discovering this new author and narrator has been a delightful surprise and I am completely hooked with both.

Short, but not missing anything as a story, with all the elements of a satisfying romance: a budding love, a slow burn, and finally, an intense and passionate climax. It's a journey worth taking, and I highly recommend it.

The narration was clear and concise, with Freddie's skilful voice acting bringing the characters to life. I found myself speeding up the narration, but only to 1.15, which is my usual pace.

Great Story & Listen🎧A Charming & Steamy Delight

I enjoyed this book immensely, a sweet-and-spicy treat of a novella and a wonderful story to enjoy in one sitting. The characters are likable and realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Brendan is a florist and a flower enthusiast, knowing the meaning behind each flower and color, knowledge that helps him make some meaningful arrangements. He has been living a lonely life after his failed marriage and his one thing he looks forward to is his monthly appointment at the hair salon, when his hairdresser, Hugh, gets his hands on him to do his magic with his hair. He longs for Hugh’s touch and wishes it was more, but Hugh does not show that kind of interest to him or does he. Hugh was clueless in more ways than one and it wasn’t until the obvious was pointed out to him that put a fire under him to go for what he always wanted, Brendan. This charming and delightful story has the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. K.C. Carmine, thank you for the fabulously entertaining story.

🎧📚🎧 Freddie Wills did a fabulous job bringing the characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who he was portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions, as well as their passion, and had you feel it all. Wills is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fabulous listen.

Delicious short!

Story: A really well balanced short full of emotions and heat. The characters are really likable from the get go, so it takes no time at all the get into their cute friends to lovers tale.
Narration: First book by this narrator for me and I really enjoyed the performance.

flowers

I enjoyed the narration of Freddie Wills, who brings out the characters and heat.

We meet florist Brendan and his love interest Hugh. These two need their heads banged together. Neither of them took hints and clues. But wow when they do get together the heat and steam comes flying.

Short and soooo hot.

great for the length

4.25 stars. A new to me narrator who I really enjoyed. The story fit the shorter length beautifully, without a constant focus on the MCs pining for each other (some books drag that out way too long, this one was perfect). The intimate scenes were very steamy and the MCs had a very believable dynamic. The flower language was very interesting.

Short, sweet and sexy

Short and sweet with just enough to hook you! Vivid characters, endearing moments and very sexy sexy-times this is a great taste of what K.C. can offer and great intro into the series with hints, characters and a little kink to intrigue.

Great narration, I'm a sucker for an accent!
