Summary

She’d better run…

Posy

When I fell for Dario Volpe, I thought he was Prince Charming, and I was the luckiest girl alive. He didn’t care about my past. The talk. The stain on my family’s reputation.

Then he saw something I never wanted anyone to see.

He cares now.

This isn’t a breakup; it’s a warning shot, and if I want to get out of this bad romance alive, I have to run and never look back.

Dario Volpe is no storybook hero. He’s a psychopath, and he can’t decide—kiss me...or kill me.

Dario

I’m the man behind the curtain, the power behind the throne. I could have killed her, and no one would have blinked an eye. Posy Santoro isn’t exactly a mafia princess.

No one sees her as clearly as I can—the perfect mind hidden by that knockout body in the tight dress.

I made a mistake, running her off, but now I get to play one of my favorite games.

Posy can run, but she isn’t made to be free. She’s made for me. And when I catch her? Game over.

Run Posy Run is a stand-alone mafia romance with dark elements. Intended for adult listeners.

HEA guaranteed.

Perfect

I’d already listened to the ALC but it was so good I wanted to listen again. When Posy is called into Dario’s office she’s not sure what’s happening . What she doesn’t expect is for him to accuse her of cheating and to make her watch a video he’s been sent . Although she tries to tell him that she was 18 when the video was taken he doesn’t believe her and throws her out. When he realises he’s wrong and she is now in danger he sends his driver back to bring her home but Posy has vanished . I loved this book and how Posy can see Dario is a sociopath and tells him, he’s honest and tells her he can’t love her as he doesn’t have the capacity to love. It was good watching Dario change and realise his emotions for Posy might just be love but will Posy believe him.

4.5 stars

This one had an unconventional introduction to the characters that I haven't really come across. Just know that Dario pushes Posy away actually due to a false interpretation. But he gets her back.
Posy and Dario, she changes him from a psychopath into a sociopath. A lot of chess mentions in her. This is definitely not a conventional relationship but slowly we see the Anti-hero Dario start to crack.

Narrators Lia Holland and Tyler Darby did a really good job. This is a first listen and I really enjoyed their voices. They were perfect for the characters.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Tiktok made me read it.

4.75 Stars So I fell for the Tiktok hype once again and once again it didn't do me wrong. Is Dario a nice guy? Absolutely not. Is this one of those "I hate every body but her" AND "touch her and you're done for" books..at the same time? Heck yes it is. And honestly if I hadn't needed sleep at 4.30 this morning, I would have finished this last night. I was obsessed from page one and while there was times when Posey bothered me, I loved the dynamic between Dario and Posey. Also I really connected with the writing in this. Will be reading more from this author for sure

Unique premise and I enjoyed its execution!

This did start off a little rocky for me… but Posy and Dario really did have me rooting for them by the end.

Basically, Posy & Dario are in a relationship at the beginning of the book. Although we do find out as the book goes on that their initial relationship was built on surface level things, and it’s clear that they didn’t really know or care for each other during those times. Anyways, stuff happens at the beginning that causes Dario to breakup with Posy. Posy is now on the run (cause Dario is kinda psychotic and dangerous) when Dario decides he actually wants her back.

All in all, once I got into the book I actually did enjoy it. Plus, their relationship the second time round was believable, and you could tell was built on much more than just surface level things, like trust. Posy finally understood and accepted Dario for who he is. Dario felt challenged by Posy, and by actually getting to know her more, grew attached to her and felt deeply for her even though he usually has no emotions towards people.

I listened to the audio which was narrated by Lia Holland and Tyler Darby. They both did amazingly capturing Posy’s and Dario’s personalities.

Dark

This story was dark and it deals with a lot of self esteem issues. Posey and Dario are a couple she thinks he is about to propose when all of a sudden he kicks her out for something she did when she was a teenager Their life is not the normal lode they live in the life of mob bosses. Posey runs for her life
And during this time she realizes she has issues and figures out Dario is a psychopath. He has no feelings was their relationship even real can he learn to love. This is their story and journey to love.

Terrific Story & Listen🎧 A Wild & Gripping Ride!

This is my first book written by Cate C. Wells and considered me wowed by this captivating and impressive dark mafia romance novel. The originality of the characters, and their growth and development is fantastic, as is the world building. Posy Santoro has always wanted to be loved yet finds herself in deep with a man who is incapable of love and she accepts that is how he is until he accuses her of cheating on him. Dario Volpe is the money maker for the mafia, he is a genius for making investments, but he is lacking in other ways, empathy for one and may be a complete psychopath. When his mafia brothers forward him a video of his girl with another man he goes off the deep end, he just throws her out knowing she as good as dead because the boss will put a hit out on her, she knows too much and ties off loose ends. But Posy has her own smarts and goes on the run. When Dario realizes the error of his way, he wants her back and while she could run, she can not hide. This fast-paced story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and some steamy romance. I loved how it all played out and how nicely the story came together. Cate C. Wells, thank you for this awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, Lia Holland and Tyler Darby are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. Tyler Darby grasped Dario’s alpha boss with a side of psychopath perfectly. Lia Holland grasped every side of Posy’s personality, her strength and confidence. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions, or lack of, and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhanced this story another level. Thank you for another amazing listen.

Loved the book, so got the audio

Fascinating & well-read.

Originally I had a diff voice in mind for the male protagonist but both readers were superb. The menace, the sense of danger, all were beautifully conveyed. Glad I chose this audio book.

Whip-smart writing and narration!

This book was such an unexpected treat, I can’t recommend it enough. It will draw you in and keep you in this very unconventional love story.

Posy is a woman living in the mafia world. To survive, she’s had to make herself available and please the men in her small universe. She has a reputation, but she holds her head up and keeps forging ahead. Dario is the money maker and brains behind the mafia operation. Dario is an odd man- reclusive, aloof, and devoid of normal emotions, he is brilliant in his own right. He and Posy become a couple, and she feels comfortable thinking he lacks of the capability to concern himself with her past.

When an old video of her and another mobster gets passed around their organization, Posy is cast out and on the run. Dario must decide if he can overcome his emotional deficits and save the woman he cares about so deeply.

It was a unique pleasure to listen to this story. Tyler Darby did an excellent job narrating Dario’s unique personality. Neuro-atypical and maybe a sociopath, Dario is at times infuriating and sympathetic- aperfect combination for this story.

Lia Holland also brought Posy to life- at times care-free and other times gritty, this is a woman who is strong and a survivor. She wants love- the question is if Dario is the man who can give it to her.

Written with unflinching honesty, this is no fairy tale. The author does an excellent job showing Dario and Posy’s evolution as they fight for themselves and each other.
