Elston-Fright Tale

Corpse never asked to be a kid ghost. She doesn't remember anything from her life – all she knows is her home on the rock-that-doesn't-exist, her friend Simon the spider and the vile Witches whose magic she steals. So, when she discovers that there's a powerful treasure which could give her all the answers to what she's lost – her memories, her family, her name – Corpse sets off to find it.

With a body made of wax, seaweed for hair and polished abalone shells for eyes, Corpse is bound to haunt the Witches' sea shack forever. She has no memory of the kid she was before she was snatched and ended up on the rock that doesn't exist. But the delivery of an unexpected message sets Corpse off on a surprising quest, searching for answers to the old and familiar questions that have filled her not-brain since the day she first woke up a ghost. Nobody in Elston-Fright believes in magic anymore. Well, nobody except for Flip Little, his nan and his friends: a girl called Corpse, a ghost called Girl and a very large spider, called Simon. But when Simon is spider-napped by ancient weather ghouls called the Poltergusts, Flip and his ghostly companions turn to the last lightkeeper's journals for answers. To rescue their friend, they will need to find and return the missing light to the lighthouse, restoring its lost magic.

There are two things about the Soul Spinners' greatest creation on which everyone agrees – one, that the Notes have the power to grant a single wish, and two … that the Notes are lost. When a ghost-eating wraith appears in the forgotten seaside town of Elston-Fright searching for the magical Notes, it's enough to make any kid ghost a bit nervous. Faye de Corail may have the townsfolk under her spell, but Girl, Corpse and their friends are determined to stay out of her way.
