I wrote this anthology over a period of 11 years on and off. This book is borne from an encouragement and cheer ministry I have on the job plus the special gift I have in writing Christian poetry. I have been writing and reading verses and poems to cheer the sick I care for. I added a Bible verse each time, and both were received well and created joy in their hearts.

James and Florine Manuel, an ordinary African-American couple, left behind an extraordinary legacy. Their story contradicts the stereotypes of Black people in the United States of America. Following the example of their ancestors who rose from slavery, they encouraged their children and everyone around them to also become high achievers. But they never boasted about their accomplishments—and they gave all the credit to God.

The poems herein–drawn from a life of 100 years–are reflections on nature, travel, writing, ageing, philosophy, and yes, life. Some of these poems have appeared in the Meadowood Anthology, a periodical publication by and for residents of the Meadowood Retirement Community where he now lives.

Pond Mountain Tales recalls experiences of the author during his 11-year stay at Pond Mountain, a 200-acre farm, with his first wife, their three sons, and eight dogs. Close encounters with snakes, blue herons, geese, turkeys, and vultures were a daily experience. Three lakes teeming with fish framed a story of the author's fishing parties for claimants in one of his settlements. A parody of point and counterpoint between a famous plaintiff lawyer and a chemical manufacturer is also featured.
