  • Summary

  • Ponder the world's most pressing and seemingly pointless questions with Iain Lee and guests.

In this riotous, competitive and comedic panel show, high profile guests square off against each other for victory. From lowbrow pop culture to high art, irresistibly silly questions become the weapons of mass distraction in this seriously hilarious 'war of the words'.

Expect strong language, riotous laughter and answers to questions you never thought should be asked in the first place. And then be thankful that someone finally had the courage to ask them.

Hilarious

Hilarious, binged the whole lot in a day. It's the opposite to Room 101. Things people like and actually funny.

Enjoyable

Really enjoyed this podcast. Didn't recognise all of the guest voices but that didn't matter. Rather funny, quite entertaining, definitely worth a listen.

Enjoyable panel show, not about words

I'm enjoying this show, which I'd describe as a more positive spin on Room 101, with comedian guests competing to get their favourite choices in a topic declared as the 'best ever'. I don't get the title 'Word Wars' as it has nothing to do with words!

The panel line ups are well picked, with well known names from TV & radio. I wasn't familiar with the host but he does a good job keeping the pace of the show going quickly and digging out the funniest aspects of the guests choices.

Recommended for when you're in the mood for some light hearted entertainment.

Well worth downloading

OK it was free, but I've downloaded and deleted free stuff, but this I'll be keeping.
Wouldn't mind downloading another series.

Words Missing In Action!

In all honesty words fail me, they really do, which would actually make me a great contestant for this show should Audible decide to inflict a second series on us. In truth it is as you would expect dependent on the quality of the guests in each episode. Some of them do actually raise a few laughs.

The fact is though that for most of it the host and guests are clearly finding themselves funnier than anyone else is. The host Iain Lee's manic laughter at his own scripted efforts have more than a hint of desperation about them and the lukewarm reactions and awkward silences from the studio audience speak louder than anything else.

It's kind of okay but there is much better out there which given it's free makes it passable I suppose. Regardless, I won't be in a rush to download a second series should Audible decide to go for it again.

not nearly as funny as they think they are

presenter is a personality vacuum - he's the kind of teller of cringey dad jokes who should not be in broadcasting
