He says that we all seem to be screaming, “why does it hurt so much?” Dr. Hall focuses on 2 Corinthians 1:3- 4, which tells us that God comforts us in all of our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we receive from God. We are warned not to fall into the trap of thinking that our heartbreak doesn’t register on God’s radar because so many others have gone through worse. God never sees our pain as minimal when compared to others. Dr. Hall warns that God gives purpose to our hard places and does not always remove our suffering. It is pointed out that the root of suffering and pain is drawing closer and nearer to Jesus. Dr. Hall quotes Christian apologist CS Lewis who wrote, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain; it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world."
