The reading from Judges starts with the sin against the Levite's concubine and then a war between the tribe of Benjamin and the other Israelites. There was no king at this time in Isreal and each person did whatever they thought was right.

    Left to our own hearts we will live vile and ungodly lives. So be thankful for God's mercy who sent us Jesus to save us from ourselves. Choose to follow the Lord, ask for forgiveness, strive to be like Jesus and walk in the Spirit.

    Today we hear the story of Micah who created is how style of worship and found his own priest, a homeless Levite. The tribe of Dan was seeking land, they stole the Levite priest from Micah and the land.

    We learn from this story that we must not choose to make our own idols, religion or expectations for living. We should desire God's will, God's work, and God's purpose for our lives.
